Me I and Hubris ...

Me I and Hubris ...

The narratives we tell ourselves….

It’s important to audit your internal idiot. That voice in your head that can go off the reserve and start feeding you bad insights.

We all have one — some listen to it and some don’t

This can manifest into an idea that “I created this...”, “I built that...” “my work...” and so forth. A destructive thought process.

Unchecked ego.

A team member that talks in “me” and “I” is one you’re better off without.

Jim Collins in his book, How the Mighty Fall, talks about hubris (defined as excessive pride or self-confidence) and the destructive common denominator it was to many of the underperforming and failed companies he studied.

It’s certainly not a trait for a good leader. A “me and I’er” will drag you down and deflate morale.

While they may be great, they’re nothing without a team. The team is everything. The contribution of a great team leads to objectives attained.

It’s never one person and it’s certainly not the result of a “me and I’er”.

Look around. You have one on your team? Cut them. Things will get better.
