Is not about me? Errr yes it is!
“It’s not about me” is a phrase I hear a lot when attending networking events when people are given the opportunity to tell the others about what they do.
I’m sorry but it is about you! It’s about the clients you’re looking to help AND about you too. Otherwise what’s the point?
How are you going to live the life you want to live if you’re not making sure you get what you need too?
Success in life is about synergies. Sun and moon, wind and rain, light and dark, food and water, winning and losing, love and loss, giving and taking.
It’s ok to take. We all take when we generate a sale for our business We give something whether it’s a product or service and we then get something in return.
How you take is of course important and most people want to “help” others so they “give” something other than their product or service first. Time, knowledge, support are great ways to “give” to your network.
I’ve written this post as I see great people and great givers struggling in business because they give, give, give and don’t ask for anything back. They have a block over either asking for or accepting help and introductions that will lead to sales.
If you’re one of those people do some work on whatever is a block for you in asking your network for help and introductions.
Make sure you know that what you need is part of the success equation.
You success is about you!

3 年That's spot on Dave Verburg. If your focus is on providing a service to improve someone else's life or business, it's very easy to forget that there's a value on this, both on the part of the giver and the taker. It's the intangible time and knowledge that gets given away without a value attached. I must remember to be aware, for myself, what time I give, and to ask for something in return that I would value.
