Me and Art Frieze London, A Must for Anyone who wants to see the Art World

Last week was Art Frieze here in London, a major event in London's very nice Hyde Park where the world's best Art is showcased. Its an event on a massive scale and last 4 days, where the worlds Gallery owners and Art Dealers meet to show the world what's new, and what's " hip" in the Art world.?If you are part of the Art World, as an Artist, or Gallery owner, you will be well versed in what it's all about, and what to expect, there's a lot of " rubbing shoulders" with the big plays and a lot of Champagne, Art is very big business and a business that is growing each year...Art plus World Show equals BIG MONEY!

I'm an Artist myself, and a Designer, and if you don't mind me jumping up on my own soap box, I'm a damn good one as well. Now, let me explain something here and now, Art has indeed changed since the days of Van Gogh, and Jackson Pollock, you now have to be a damn fine actor as well as someone who can handle a paint brush, there are those out there that would disagree with me, I'm sure. It's important for any Artist these days to have one very important quality, or indeed asset, that's the love of yourself, if you cannot love yourself, you are inept at loving anyone else, and here, believe me, it will help with you getting your works, and more importantly yourself, known in the Art World, or indeed, in any other profession.

Art has changed since the days of Van Gogh, and Jackson Pollock, you now have to be a damn fine actor as well as someone who can handle a paint brush

Now at London Art Frieze you are going to see and lot of acting going on, some good, some bad, what's important is you are Great. When one ventures into these Art events, they can be rather intimating to those who have never ventured to them before and have no idea what a great painting or work of art looks like, it's an elite social gathering. There are some there that are great ambassadors of the Art World, and damn fine down to earth people, as the Art World should be. You know, it was that long ago back in the 1940s, the glorious 1950s, in NY when abstract expressionism took off and it was a wild, drunken, aggressive world, one that was by pure nature " extremely colourful" and approachable, try finding a studio like that today in any part of the world.

The Art World has indeed changed, and the way we view it as well, what must come back is how we" Interact" with it, we must be able to walk into any Gallery, Show, and feel comfortable, with, or without an education in the Arts.

I focused this year on going to the Galleries in London during these 4 days and I focused on the Art Galleries in Mayfair and in my beloved Fitzrovia, I also love Marylebone too, I did this as both areas are rather near to each other and it meant I could reach a lot of Galleries without walking across half of London. Two of my favourite Galleries are the John Martin Gallery on Albemarle street Mayfair and Rosenfeld Gallery in Fitzrovia, both owners of the galleries are extremely approachable and very polite, and will engage with you in anything that you need to know about the works, which is what one would expect, so, full marks there to these Gallery owners

Art Frieze London is a wonderful event, and I urge anyone that has any interest in the Art World to go, even if you might think, " O this is too POSH an event" Go. The Art show will show you the calibre of work out there, and you might find " new found confidence" in believing in your own works, or, for those who have never picked up a paint brush to give it a go. Art events like Frieze is there in its first instance to join the Public with the Art World, to communicate. If industry, like Banks see that this communication with the Public is going well and promotes Art and their institution, they are going to be more willing to sponsor these event and others, let be honest, most Art exhibitions have very large sponsors behind them

Go, and make sure that before you even venture into the show, the Galleries, your aura is felt before you even enter the Show, that's called " Confidence". Enjoy the event

On the other side of the event is that it will give you a great chance to see London, and I have just listed 2 areas, the Art Galleries in Mayfair and in Fitzrovia, both areas have fantastic bars, cafes and hotels, it's a great time to spent a couple of days.?And to all of you who have never been to such a glorious event, Go, and make sure that before you even venture into the show, the Galleries, your aura is felt before you even enter the Show, that's called " Confidence". Enjoy the event
