McTaggart Construction: November 2024 Highlights
McTaggart Construction
McTaggart Construction builds over 750 new homes each year, 90% of which are for the affordable housing sector.
Site Progress
At our Cartha Crescent site, we aim to have 12 out of the 14 scaffolds dropped before the Christmas break and all blocks wind and watertight. We are gearing up to start the preparations for handovers with all finishing trades ready to start at the beginning of the new year. It really has been a great team effort so far, not only from the site team but also from all the subbies involved on this site, everyone has bought into what we are trying to achieve.
The timber kit at our Wallyford Area 5 site is almost complete in block 1 with external brickwork and joinery first fixes underway. All windows and precast stairwell units are complete. Block 3 ground floor kit panels complete and floor cassettes in progress. Scaffold is complete in block 2 to allow kit work to commence.
New Site!
Our project for West Dunbartonshire Council commenced on Monday 25th November and will be delivering 17 new properties, allowing the council to relocate residents from an existing, adjacent housing complex. This will be our first project involving ground source heating works. Look out for more updates as the site progresses!
Training
McTaggart are now part of the new CITB Employer Network to influence and drive learning within construction.

Fact of the Month!
SHEQ Award - Paying it Forward
Following their SHEQ award win in October, the Johnstone Castle team chose to donate their vouchers to a local good cause. The lucky recipients were The Autastic Club, an activity group for children with additional support needs who meet every week at Johnstone Community Hub. Needless to say, the group were blown away by the site team’s generosity and plan to buy some new play equipment for the kids to enjoy.
Record Broken - Careers Events in One Month!
The CSR team tried to set a record in October by attending 9 careers fairs in just one month. That’s 3,000+ pupils who had the chance to learn about the wonderful world of construction!
