McDonald’s Qatar puts ‘Community Connection’ at the front and center with their World Blood Donor Day activation

World Blood Donor Day is just one of the many days that matter to us at McDonald’s Qatar. This is because days with such a community significance give us the opportunity to play our role – as a leading quick-service restaurant (QSR) – in positively impacting the quality of life our nation, Qatar, enjoys.

Today, building trust is more critical than ever. The more our customers trust us, the more pride they have in our brand and the more often they visit us. Trust drives growth and builds our legacy—one where people are proud to eat and work at McDonald’s Qatar for generations to come.

We understand that with a scale like ours at McDonald’s Qatar, when we contribute even a little, we can change a lot. Thus, this year, we did just that on World Blood Donor Day – we leveraged the full scale of our network in the country to show our care and volunteered to donate blood: volunteers from restaurant branches as well as a team from our company’s head management.

Our latest initiative underlined our commitment to stand by our community in times of need: Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Qatar Blood Donor Center recently called on eligible members of the community to become blood donors to ensure enough blood stocks for the biggest event in our country’s history: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

In keeping with the 2022 slogan for World Blood Donor Day, “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives”, we organized a blood drive in collaboration with HMC to give back to the local community in Qatar. To support the enthusiastic volunteers of our team in this corporate social responsibility pursuit, we facilitated the trip and all logistics to the blood donation center in close cooperation with our partners at HMC’s Qatar Blood Donor Center.

As a 100% locally owned and operated organization by Al Mana Restaurants & Food Co, we have a responsibility to play a positive role in our nation’s community. Earlier this year, McDonald’s Qatar received the ‘Responsible Leadership CSR Award’ for the third time from Qatar University’s CSR National Program in attendance of His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, as well as high representation of government, academia, business, diplomatic community, and NGOS. As well as the HMC Certificate of Appreciation that McDonald's Qatar received for their Blood Donation initiative. These recognitions were both a reward of our team’s past efforts as well as a reminder of the role we must continue to play in coming days in our community.
