Today, let’s meet Jason Klumpp, Sales Development Lead!
What’s your 2-sentence autobiography?
I strive to be a lifelong learner. There is always an opportunity to learn something new, whether from a stranger, a friend or a colleague.?
What is your background prior to working for Monte Carlo?:
Prior to joining Monte Carlo, I spent 4 years at Segment leading Global Inbound & Outbound SDR teams. I also worked as an AE for 16 months, closing both SMB and Mid-Market deals.?
Why did you choose to work for Monte Carlo?:
If you look at the companies I’ve worked for, the common denominator is data. Oracle stores and processes data, Segment helps companies move data from where it originates to where it’s useful, and Monte Carlo helps companies understand the health of their data. Simply put, I’m fascinated by data use cases and was eager to be back on the forefront of emerging data technology.?
What do you appreciate most about working for Monte Carlo?:?
I appreciate the example set by our leadership to not only talk about what’s going well but also where growth is needed. This behavior breeds transparency and trust throughout the business.?
What are you passionate about outside of working for Monte Carlo?:
I’m currently on a campaign to attend 20 SF Giants games this season, so you can say it’s a bit of a passion…Outside of that, I enjoy playing basketball, traveling, golfing, and wine tasting. Oh, and I have a slight sneaker obsession.?

How did you get interested in your field of work?:
I always knew I wanted to have an interpersonal career, and in college I was surrounded by the tech industry. Sales seemed like the natural way to leverage my skill set so I scrapped my biology degree and took a gamble that ultimately paid off.?
If you could describe yourself with one word, what would it be and why?:?
Gregarious. All I can say is thank goodness phone carriers don’t charge you by the minute anymore. I make the most of my unlimited plan, whether that is calling colleagues, friends, family, etc.?
One of our company values is “beat the odds”. What does “beat the odds” mean to you?
As our Head of Revenue, Jordan Van Horn puts it, “we have the privilege of solving really hard problems every day.” Thus, beating the odds is about attacking the hardest problems first, with an open mind and creative solutions.?
If you could pause your life for just one moment, what moment would that be and why?
I’d pause any moment I’m on the beach to enjoy it just a bit longer!
How do you recharge??
I LOVE watching TV. I should probably read more books but letting my brain just zone out for a bit is my favorite way to recharge.?
What’s the one takeaway you want people to know about you?
I wholeheartedly believe that the SDR position is the most valuable experience anyone can have. Understanding how to craft a message that resonates with a certain audience is an incredibly valuable skill set. Also, the learnings that come from speaking to 1000+ customers simply cannot be replicated. That is why I've dedicated my career to helping those unsure of their first career step make the transition to tech.?
