Texas Aims to Enrich Outdoor Recreation: 6 New State Parks in the Pipeline

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department plans to open six new state parks within the next 12 to 15 years, aiming to provide more recreational opportunities for the growing population. This initiative follows the approval of Proposition 5 in 2019, which allocates funds from existing sales tax on sporting goods to the department. The expansion of parkland will not only benefit the local economy through job creation and increased tourism revenue but also offer environmental and health benefits such as critical habitat protection, improved air quality, and opportunities for physical exercise. The new parks in development include Palo Pinto Mountains State Park, Dan A. Hughes Unit of the Devils River State Natural Area, Albert and Bessie Kronkosky State Natural Area, Powderhorn State Park, Chinati Mountains State Natural Area, and Davis Hill State Natural Area.

Congress Members Introduce Bipartisan Legislation to Address RV Dealer Financing Issue

Congressman Rudy Yakym III and Congresswoman Dina Titus have introduced the Travel Trailer and Camper Tax Parity Act (H.R. 3624), aiming to amend the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. This proposed legislation would allow RV dealers to fully deduct interest on floor plan financing for all RVs, including non-motorized towable trailers, which currently face a 30% limitation on interest expenses. The RV industry has advocated for this change to ensure fair treatment and to promote growth and competition across the recreational market. If passed, the legislation could improve cash flow for RV dealers, resulting in increased sales, job creation, and the growth of outdoor tourism in the United States.
