Mississippi battles truck driver shortage; efforts underway to solve problem
Mississippi continues to struggle with a shortage of truck drivers, but the problem is not unique to the Magnolia State and is steadily improving, according to state trucking association officials.
“The shortage is still there, and it’s a major problem across the nation,” said Hal Miller, president of the Mississippi Trucking Association. “However, in Mississippi, it is not as significant as it has been.”

A lot of those things are related to economic development efforts by organizations like The Alliance of Corinth and Alcorn County, which recruits new business to that area while also protecting and promoting existing industry.

Pew: Mississippi ranks second in nation in prime-age worker employment rate
Mississippi ranks No. 2 in the U.S. in its employment rate for prime-age workers, according to new information provided by The Pew Charitable Trusts.
Pew officials consider prime working age to be between 25-54. Their report, released June 29, is based on data collected from the first quarter of 2020 through the first quarter of 2023.

Commissioners award $11.6M in multimodal transportation grants

Blue Delta Jeans has extended its partnership with the U.S. Ryder Cup Team as an official team supplier through 2025.

Officials gearing up for Sept. 14-16 Mississippi Science Fest
Officials are busy planning for three days of fun and innovative learning experiences at the eighth annual Mississippi Science Fest, which is set for Sept. 14-16 at the four museums within the LeFleur Museum District in Jackson.
The festival will offer exhibitors, programs and special events at the Mississippi Children’s Museum, the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Museum, and the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.
