Marlboro commanded 44% of the U.S. cigarette market in 2016, bigger than the next 10 brands combined. Marlboro volume growth was down 2.6% in the U.S. in 2015, but higher pricing pushed revenue and profits up. Marlboro had to rebrand products marketed as "Lights” or "Mild” because that gave the impression its cigarettes are safe. Marlboro has been a big sponsor of motor racing since 1972. In 2008, PMI applied new brand structure with three defined features for Marlboro: Flavor, Gold, and Regular comprising probably the most popular varieties: Marlboro Red, Marlboro Gold and Marlboro Silver. Budweiser

Budweiser founder, Adolphus Busch, journeyed to America from Germany in 1857, determined to make his dreams come true. Adolphus wasted no time once he landed in St. Louis, and started work at a brewing supply company. Among his clients was Eberhard Anheuser (the name might sound familiar), who owned what was then known as E. Anheuser & Company. Adolphus married Eberhard’s daughter, Lilly, in 1861. After fighting for the Union during the Civil War, Adolphus joined his father-in-law’s business, bringing big, ambitious ideas with him. Adolphus’s entrepreneurial spirit and sales prowess contributed enormously to the brewery’s growth. By 1875, Adolphus was named secretary-treasurer, and in 1879, the company’s name was officially changed to Anheuser-Busch Brewing Association. After Eberhard’s passing in 1880, Adolphus became president. Adolphus was drawn to St. Louis because of the city’s large German population. But a large German population meant a lot of beer, which in turn meant a lot of competition for Adolphus and Eberhard’s brewery. Luckily, Adolphus was a talented salesman with an eye for innovation. He wasn’t about to be discouraged by competition.

Recognizing the need to expand outside of St. Louis to places with a less-crowded beer market, Adolphus stayed close to emerging technologies and developments that could make expansion possible. One major development was pasteurization, which increased the shelf life of bottled beers by up to four months, and allowed for further shipping. In fact, Adolphus pasteurized his beer before America pasteurized milk.

Refrigerated rail cars also helped Adolphus ship his beer across long distances, but they were expensive. He took matters into his own hands and started a company to build the rail cars faster, and for less money. A network of rail-side ice houses followed shortly after, and before long, Anheuser-Busch was taking the entire country by storm. Before Budweiser was introduced, many Americans were drinking heavy, dark ales. But St. Louis summers were hot – perfect for a palatable, crisp lager. So Adolphus jumped on the opportunity to create and brew a beer that would be perfect for those hot summers. And he always knew a great beer when he tasted one.

Budweiser’s smoothness and drinkability was a success. Thanks to Adolphus’s expansive shipping network, Budweiser quickly became wildly popular not just  in St. Louis, but in America. And we’ve stayed true to the recipe ever since.

Though Adolphus died in 1913, his name and entrepreneurial legacy define Budweiser to this day. His funeral was a testament to his character; tens of thousands of people came to pay their respects, and the procession extended for miles.

Adolphus was always on another level as a businessman, and offered tours of the brewery he was so proud of long before that was common practice. He even advertised in a memorable way – handing out pocket knives instead of business cards. But it wasn’t just his skills in sales that set him apart as a person and a brewer. It was his commitment to people. Adolphus was a generous philanthropist and made many donations over the course of his life, both personally and from Anheuser-Busch. It’s not much of a surprise that he was such a people person, coming from a large family (he was the 21st of 22 children) and eventually having one of his own (he and Lilly had thirteen children).

Adolphus Busch proves that a lasting legacy isn’t made by success alone. A legacy is made by living ambitiously on your own terms. Appropriately, the words “Veni, Vidi, Vici” are inscribed into Adolphus’s grave. The translation? “I came, I saw, I conquered.”

KFC

He was a sixth-grade dropout, an army mule-tender, a locomotive fireman, an insurance salesman and a political candidate. And that was before he became the world’s most famous cook after reaching “retirement age.” Colonel Harland Sanders was many things, but above all, he’s a great success story. Harland David Sanders was born on September 9, 1890, in Henryville, Indiana. After his father died when he was 6 years old, Sanders became responsible for feeding and taking care of his younger brother and sister. Beginning at the age of 10, he held down numerous jobs, including farmer, streetcar conductor, railroad fireman and insurance salesman. At age 40, Sanders was running a service station in Kentucky, where he would also feed hungry travelers. Sanders eventually moved his operation to a restaurant across the street, and featured a fried chicken so notable that he was named a Kentucky colonel in 1935 by Governor Ruby Laffoon .After closing the restaurant in 1952, Sanders devoted himself to franchising his chicken business. He traveled across the country, cooking batches of chicken from restaurant to restaurant, striking deals that paid him a nickel for every chicken the restaurant sold. His first franchise sale went to Pete Harman of Salt Lake City. In 1964, with more than 600 franchised outlets, he sold his interest in the company for $2 million to a group of investors. Kentucky Fried Chicken went public in 1966 and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1969. More than 3,500 franchised and company-owned restaurants were in worldwide operation when Heublein Inc. acquired KFC Corporation in 1971for $285 million. KFC became a subsidiary of R.J. Reynolds Industries, Inc. (now RJR Nabisco, Inc.), when Heublein Inc. was acquired by Reynolds in 1982. KFC was acquired in October 1986 from RJR Nabisco, Inc. by PepsiCo, Inc., for approximately $840 million. Sanders continued to visit the KFC restaurants around the world as a spokesman in his later years. He died of leukemia on December 16, 1980, at the age of 90, in Louisville, Kentucky.

BRAND WHICH ARE NOT SO GOOD

1.   Amazon

2.   Forever 21

3.   Hewlett-Packard

Amazon

Amazon will be the world’s heading web retailer and its achievement need spurred other physical, brick, Also mortality table retailers should bring an online vicinity. It is regularly alluded on Similarly as the on the web proportional of Wal-Mart due to its scope What's more worldwide foot shaped impression and also its Combative estimating methodologies. Amazon camwood power around a few chances in the developing businesses Furthermore could guarantee that its worldwide supply chain about networked warehouses convey significant esteem to itself Also its stakeholders. Further, amazon need to reconsider its benefits of the business model from claiming working toward near zero edges and the reality that the organization need not came back a OK benefit in the most recent five a considerable length of time provides for it significantly room to change.

According to my prospective -

Amazon is an online retail brand which is not present physically any where that’s why people do not trust this brand because of identity theft, hacking and cyber crime . if there is any defect in the product we cannot claim it on the spot we have to wait for the proper.

Online sites use aggressive pricing strategies, so the company has to face law problems from the publishers and brand industries in retail industries. The company focus is on cost leadership that becomes a source of trouble for the Amazon because of the competitors being annoyed with Amazon for taking away the business from them.

Some Local online store are serving people more better and faster than Amazon I think it is because they do not have the proper understand of the geographic conditions and behavior of buying of the people of that region.

Forever 21

Forever21 is American fashion brand which have its head quarter in California, it started as a store and has grown into clothing line forever21, it is known for trendy and low price clothing. They have limited in Asia and European region their main focus is on woman, girls and teenagers appeal their designer copy the ideas of other design because of which they always remain in the conflict they also have very limited stock in the stores and the working condition of the employs are very bad even they pay low wages to their employs.

Other thing is their marketing strategies are not so good and they also have security issues in some of the countries, I think they are not that financially strong as compared to their competitors.

Hewlett-Packard

Hewlett Packard Company is an American multinational Informational technology company which provides hardware and software to the business industries across the world of any scale. The organization was founded by William “Bill” Redingote Hewlett and Dave Packard in 1939.it is started in a garage and its first product is an radio oscillator. In 2008 it has a turn over of 118.5 Billion$ and a rank of 9 in 500 companies. The market value comes down when the cloud industry showed a fast rise, which decrease the demand of printers and laptops because of which HP comes from the decline PC and printer sales. This was a major blow for the technology giant. Their profits and sales fall down Moreover, they have new competitor like Samsung, Lenovo, Apple and other also rivals. Because of which HP was forced to depend on the sale of outside market to beat the competiters. While the Asian markets still hold potential for HP, falling sales in other parts can become a major trouble.

Amazon

Amazon is the world’s leading online retailer and its success has spurred other physical, brick, and mortar retailers to have an online presence. It is often referred to as the online equivalent of Wal-Mart because of its reach and global footprint as well as its aggressive pricing strategies. Amazon can leverage on several opportunities in the emerging markets and can ensure that its global supply chain of networked warehouses deliver substantial value for itself and its stakeholders. Further, Amazon has to rethink its business model of operating at close to zero margins and the fact that the company has not returned a decent profit in the last five years gives it much room for improvement.

According to my prospective -Amazon is an online retail brand which is not present physically any where that’s why people do not trust this brand because of identity theft, hacking and cyber crime . if there is any defect in the product we cannot claim it on the spot we have to wait for the proper.
