Mays Landing Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose

MAYS LANDING, NJ – On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, Ryan Dutton, 32, of Mays Landing, NJ, pleaded guilty in Atlantic County Superior Court to third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, in exchange for a three-year term in New Jersey State Prison.

On November 16, 2022, Hamilton Township police responded to the Sandpiper Condominiums for a report of a male yelling racial slurs in the hallway of a building. ?Upon making contact with the subject, identified as Ryan Dutton, police observed Dutton carrying a dumbbell. ?Police ordered Dutton to drop the dumbbell. ?After refusing officer commands, Dutton attempted to lunge at the police officers, before being subdued and arrested.

Sentencing for the matter will be on September 26, 2023 in front the Honorable W. Todd Miller, J.S.C.
