Mays Landing Man Pleads Guilty to Murdering His Mother
MAYS LANDING, NJ – On Friday, July 12, 2024, Sean Daly, 53, of Mays Landing, NJ, pleaded guilty before the Honorable Joseph A. Levin, J.S.C. to first-degree murder. ?Under the terms of his guilty plea, Mr. Daly is expected to be sentenced to a term of 30 years in New Jersey State Prison without the possibility of parole.
On the morning of March 20, 2024, the Hamilton Township Police were dispatched to a residence following the report of an assault between Mr. Daly and his mother, Melba Daly, 74, also from Mays Landing. ?Upon arrival, police located Ms. Daly deceased from multiple stab wounds in the residence. ?Mr. Daly subsequently confessed to having killed Ms. Daly during an interview with members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit and the Hamilton Township Police Department.
Mr. Daly’s sentencing is scheduled for October 11, 2024.
The case was investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the Hamilton Township Police Department.
