While Mayor Empty Suit is wowing the crowds with his boring, daily Covid-19 news conferences- where policies are often contradicted and overruled by the governor hours later- the seedy business of being Mayor de Blasio is on-going. And no one seems to be noticing.
The latest is the doubling down by Empty Suit's- and Mrs Empty Suit's- ThriveNYC venture.
ThriveNYC is the city's epically bad "social program" that the Mayor and his wife created and has burned through $1.2 Billion of taxpayer money with nothing to show for it. Literally nothing.
Who runs ThriveNYC? That would, of course, be Chirlane McCray-who happens to be married to Empty Suit.
The latest is a mental health quiz that ThriveNYC would give to school children in the city's pandemic-hit neighborhoods. 150 social workers would then be hired to follow up, though its not clear with what.
Surveying the city's kids as to their mental state might be a worthy goal (although anyone can tell you their mental state sucks right now without a survey) but this administration has completely failed the adults with serious mental issues. Anyone interacting with the homeless can tell you that.
Why do we think it would do better with the kids? In fact, the New York Post reports, that just last year McCoy unveiled "Resilient kids, Safer Schools", an initiative designed to give school children tools to "manage their emotional needs." Whatever that means. As far as anyone can tell, it means nothing since it's published no results.
The average city employee working at ThriveNYC earns $104,000 a year. Its director earns more than $200,000. McCoy doesn't earn a salary due to the city's nepotism rules, something Empty Suit isn't happy about. But ThriveNYC cannot explain where some $800 million has gone.
Likely down the drain.
