MAYOR PRO TEM FIFER APPOINTED TO FCC INTERGOVERNMENTAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Arvada, CO….. Bob Fifer, City of Arvada Mayor Pro Tem, is one of just four municipal officials in the country to be appointed to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Intergovernmental Advisory Committee (IAC) for 2017 – 2019.
The IAC provides guidance, expertise, and recommendations to the Commission on a range of telecommunication issues. The 2017 – 2019 Committee will specifically focus on the role of state, local, and Tribal governments in facilitating broadband deployment and adoption, initiatives related to wireless infrastructure deployment, Universal Service programs, consumer complaints processes, and public safety issues.
The IAC is composed of 15 elected/appointed representatives of state, local, and Tribal governments with expertise in telecommunications policy, including four municipal officials (city mayors or city councilmembers).
“I am very honored to be appointed to this Commission,” Fifer stated, “and to be representing our great community and the State of Colorado on critical communication topics at the FCC.”
He concluded, “The IAC impacts national communication issues of which many are very important to me, such as FirstNet (public safety) and Broadband/Internet.”
