Maybe We Should All Cry

Maybe We Should All Cry

Maybe I should try dying my hair pink and crying in front of you … just kidding of course. This beautiful young woman is genuinely concerned with the state of the world. She poured her heart out trying to get others to feel as passionately as she does about it already being "too late" for people in 3rd world regions, who are suffering the most from the climate crisis.

My Commentary

Here is my advice to Clover Hogan and for all the young people genuinely concerned about the climate. If you really want to be a "force of nature" (the name of Clover's company), start focusing on the right things. Before you do anything else stop and take a good look at the example nature has always provided us with - harmony, giving, perfection.?Then look at how us humans are always clashing, taking far more than we need, and our world is in chaos? We need to start understanding the discrepancy between these two situations.?

Sustainability experts who are passionate about saving the planet are hoping that:

1) PEOPLE WILL CHANGE THEIR CONSUMPTION BEHAVIOR / LIFESTYLE - don't hold your breath, because we're not suddenly going to change. The virus changed us quite a bit but as soon as things cleared up we were back to our old ways of shopping, hoarding and taking far more than we actually need. I'm not blaming any specific person - our society is set up this way. The best examples is how so many companies are trying to force their people back to the office.

2) COMPANIES WILL CHANGE THEIR STRATEGY - companies will continue to do whatever is best for their quarterly reports - everything else is just one big snow job. Sam Bankman-Fried admitted that he couldn't really care less about all that "nice guy" stuff - it was just PR (Vox). This is really how most business people operate - it's actually refreshing to hear someone to say it out loud.

3) POLITICS WILL CHANGE - Clover talked about the problem being that we "lack the political will" to make things happen. This is the last place on earth people who want change should look - the politicians are focused on amassing power and control, and will do whatever it takes to get to the top. So anything that may appear to be real progress, like the huge COP 27 event where the delegates flew in on 400 private planes - it's really just another excuse to spend all the millions raised in the name of "fixing the climate". Private jets, security, catering for hundreds of leaders, hotels and chauffeurs, etc. - all that costs a fortune, and these meetings should be virtual at this point.

So it's great that someone like this young woman can get on stage and may get everyone to stop being concerned about themselves for a few seconds - which is a miracle in itself.

But even if we stopped the whole world for a few moments and got everyone to think about "the climate," would that actually change anything? I'm pretty sure we've done that here and there - we should understand by now that raising billions of dollars for some international climate treaty isn't going to fix the climate. But for some reason we keep doing it.

What Will Fix The Climate?

Remember what I said earlier about being a force of nature? This is exactly what this whole thing is about - us learning to be more like nature. Giving instead of taking. Concern for others instead of ourselves, and the list goes on and on. So when you start thinking in this integral manner, you start to realize that the only thing we need to fix is how we get along here together. The only thing we need to fix is the broken fabric of our society. This is why I'm always talking about investing in human connection. It may still sound very kumbaya but soon everyone will see it as a basic necessity for running any type of business.

So please everyone - stop thinking about fixing the climate. Nature doesn't need our help with the oceans and air we breath. Nature only wants one thing from us - to be more giving and caring individuals, which requires learning to actually care for others. So this isn't something you can read in a book or hear in a lecture. It's a powerful human experience that will be the foundation for everything we do in the new era.

"So please everyone - stop thinking about fixing the climate. Nature doesn't need our help with the oceans and air we breath...." Truth, it was and is so so clear, I so loved our first #global #lockdown we were given clear cut examples of how Nature can balance itself out when we are all sent home to perhaps start doing some serious introspection, maybe I should list some examples here to refresh our memories!
