The Maybe Fable

(goes something like this...)

A wise man wins a prize horse, and when he wins the horse, everybody says "Oh wow! You're so very lucky you won this horse and now you can get everywhere quickly!" His only response is "Maybe!"

Shortly after he receives the horse, he's riding it by a cliff when the horse slips and falls on rocks and the man gets badly injured. He goes to the hospital where everybody claims "You're so unlucky! It's unfortunate you won this horse or this never would have happened!" His only response is "Maybe!"

While he is in the hospital, torrential rain creates a mudslide that wipes his house into the sea. Everybody says "Wow you're so lucky that you weren't in your home and that you had this accident!" He calmly replies, "Maybe!"

The moral of the story: life has many twists and turns. What seems like a blessing today could change. Be humble. What seems like a disaster today could seem like a blessing tomorrow. Hang in there.
