Mentoring for success

At Deriv, we believe in empowering young talent. One of our exceptional employees, Shivanand Shinde , DevOps Engineer, took the initiative to prepare the BeSquare programme graduates for the rest of the programme modules. As a trainer and mentor, he guided them to build a strong foundation.

How did you become a trainer?

After the first BeSquare programme, we realised that most graduates need an understanding of Linux basics and have limited exposure to the AWS cloud. We decided to cover these topics before the back-end module to address the need. I, along with my DevOps peers, mentored the graduates. Together, we prioritised laying a solid foundation by teaching the basics, ensuring a level playing field for all trainees, regardless of their background.

What is your subject area?

Our main focus was teaching the principles of DevOps, along with imparting Linux fundamentals and providing an introduction to the AWS cloud.

What is the significance of your role?

This role is important as it equips graduates with fundamental Linux and AWS cloud knowledge. It enables them to grasp subsequent modules, such as back-end and QA more effectively. Moreover, their understanding of cloud technology will empower them to complete their final projects successfully.

BeSquare 3.0 experience so far

Since its launch in November 2022, the third intake has been a whirlwind of excitement, now reaching its glorious fifth-month mark. Our talented graduates have been fully immersed in various training modules, including product design, front-end and back-end development, and mobile development. Events across Deriv offices

The Malta office punched their routine with weekly boxing sessions at Sliema Fight Co., fuelling camaraderie and fitness. They also enjoyed exploring an Olive grove, bonding over a delightful picnic amidst nature’s beauty.

The Paraguay office commemorated Labour Day with a remarkable dinner event featuring live performances by our talented peers, creating an unforgettable evening of celebration.

The Melaka office enjoyed the perfect blend of team-building sessions and a fun-filled BBQ evening. From engaging in activities that strengthened bonds to enjoying delicious food, Melaka colleagues came together to foster camaraderie and create lasting memories.

The Cyberjaya HQ screened the Kahuna video, followed by an exclusive Q&A session with the Kahuna team, igniting inspiration.

The Belarus office embraced a week of wellness and vitality with the Healthy Challenge Week. Belarus Derivians learned about healthy habits and participated in physical activities.

The Dubai office enjoyed the Living Deriv Values workshop for team leaders, managers, and senior management. The participants delved into the core values, strengthening alignment and fostering a shared sense of purpose and commitment.

The Jordan office celebrated its 77th Independence Day by embracing the spirit of patriotism and unity. Colleagues gathered together, adorned in traditional attire and waving flags with pride.?
