Aviation Hero column

She didn’t choose aviation — aviation chose her, at least that’s what the Head of Business Trips Planning Unit,?Jurgita Tamulionyt?, told us. After almost 10 years with FL Technics, Jurgita couldn’t be happier with how her career has developed, and today, she shares her story as our aviation hero.

No alt text provided for this image

“Before joining aviation, I’d been working in the tourism sphere for about 9 years, and at that time, FL Technics created a new position, the Business Trips Planner, for which, by pure luck, I was recommended. My role hasn’t changed throughout the years, but it only gets busier, which is perfect for me, as I love a good challenge. Every day something new pops us, but together with the team, we find solutions quickly, even if it isn’t always easy.

For me, aviation is all about opportunities, freedom, and speed. I always say that if aviation were a city, it would be Bangkok — it’s the fusion of cultures and different tastes. I couldn’t be happier at FL Technics, too, as this company is never sleeping, constantly growing, and attracting and retaining the best talent.

Our working environment is extremely respectful, and I don’t feel any difference as a woman. I believe that feminine flexibility helps balance things out and solve even the toughest work situations.

I encourage any other woman out there to go after their dreams. If it’s aviation — just do it, ladies, you deserve it! If I could give advice to my younger self, I would say never regret anything and try to be a bit more self-confident and braver.

Besides aviation, I’m also in love with long walks in nature, traveling, and sunbathing — and boy, do I miss that during gloomy and doomy Lithuanian winters!”

Each engineer is unique, with their own distinct values and motivations. For some, their career is built on a foundation of theories and concepts. For others, it's the passion for their work and the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop practical skills, and enjoy the process that drives them.

Meet our Aviation Hero, Dominyka Pakutkaite, an Avionic who’s been with FL Technics for over 4 years now and is still discussing the experiences and opportunities she faced at the company.

See the video below and get a glimpse of what it means for Dominyka when an aircraft she has worked on takes off from the runway after the maintenance. The feeling is shared by many in the aviation industry who take pride in ensuring the safety and functionality of aircraft.

Working as an aircraft mechanic is a challenging and rewarding career. These professionals play a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of aircraft, which is critical in the aviation industry.

See the importance and value of skilled and dedicated aircraft mechanics in the aviation industry in the video below.

We can’t believe we’re moving towards the end with our ‘Aviation Hero’ series posts — but here we are! Our team has some other exciting news coming, so stay tuned, and today, we invite you to learn more about our VP of Sales Base Maintenance,?Agne Totilaite.

Agne’s journey in aviation didn’t start by accident 7 years ago. It was her lifelong dream, and she took conscious steps to fulfill it. Agne says it was far from a walk in the park, especially for a young woman in such a demanding, technical, and male-populated environment as the aviation world is, “You have to strongly believe in yourself, defeat all your fears and overcome difficulties along the way.”

Right now, as the VP at FL Technics, Agne deals with the leading market players and professionals worldwide daily. Even though the heavy maintenance environment is very complex and, according to Agne, “most of the days at work are like a roller coaster where various problems arise”, it doesn’t frighten her, and she always looks for new ways to solve them. For Agne, aviation is not just a job — it’s also her lifestyle. The international environment, worldwide experience, top-class professionals, and vast self-improvement opportunities are among the main reasons why Agne doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon.

When asked what she likes most about her job, Agne doesn’t think twice — it’s the spontaneity she enjoys most. “Sales is a very challenging and exciting field at the same time. For example, you never know where you’ll be eating your dinner tomorrow — it may be Vilnius, Dublin, or even Saudi Arabia. Also, it’s important to always keep in mind that an unexpected acquaintance, unplanned meeting, or a randomly met person can lead to a great business deal or a long-lasting friendship. That’s the beauty of life if you ask me — it’s full of unexpected adventures.”

Of course, Agne’s job comes with its challenges, too, “I won’t lie, it’s not always easy to be a woman in aviation. Sometimes, especially at the beginning, you have to prove your worth to earn the trust and dismantle some gender stereotypes you didn’t even believe still existed.” Despite all the struggles, the only thing Agne regrets is not having joined the industry earlier in life, and her advice to other women passionate about aviation is to believe in themselves and not be afraid to hop onto the new challenges.

Unsurprisingly, some of Agne’s hobbies are related to aviation — she has a collection of around 45 aircraft models, which she gets from other aviation enthusiasts around the world. Agne also lives an active lifestyle, and laying at the beach is not exactly her cup of tea, “At the moment, I love playing padel tennis, and my plan for the upcoming summer is to improve my kitesurfing skills.”
