You can find out more later in this newsletter.I am also going to be telling you about the exciting ways you can support children and families in Kampala. One of which is our May Prize Draw, which has just 24 hours to go.Don’t forget that this year we are celebrating our 15 year anniversary and have lots of ways that you can get involved, including hosting a fundraising event or taking on a challenge for kids in Kampala. Updates from our community to yours
International Day of Families
On Wednesday 15th May we celebrated International Day of Families. We like to take this opportunity each year to celebrate all of the families and communities we work with, and reflect on how we can best support and safeguard children.?
As an organisation working in the heart of the community, we believe in family based care. This means that in all of our programme areas we seek ways that we can support children within their biological families, and where this isn’t possible, place them in the care of other families with room and love to share. This approach does not advocate for long term institutional care such as orphanages. If you would like to read more about family based care and hear Ronnie’s heartwarming story you can visit our International Day of Families Blog here.?
Fundraiser focus
On Saturday 4th May Miles, Becci and Ben ran the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge for Kids Club Kampala, covering 106km! ??
We would like to take this opportunity to say a HUGE thank you! They raised a whopping ï¿¡3,200 for children and families in Kampala. Another fantastic achievement that needs celebrating is that out of all of the challengers who took part, Miles came in 3rd place!?We are so grateful for every bit of support our programmes receive, and their support means more children and families can be supported on their journey from just surviving to truly thriving. Thank you Miles, Becci and Ben!Would you be interested in doing a challenge for Kids Club Kampala? We still have 3 places available for you to run Brighton Marathon in 2025. Find out more here.
