Inspire MediLaw
Helping medical and legal professionals to develop their medico-legal skills through face-to-face and online training.
Welcome to our latest newsletter. It’s been an extremely hectic month for the team here at Inspire MediLaw – we’ve been travelling across the UK and to Ireland for our latest events.
I’d like to thank all the medical experts who gave such insightful presentations at our recent events in Edinburgh and Dublin on the medico-legal issues surrounding misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis of cancer. Many attendees commented on the high quality of the presentations and the thought-provoking discussions that followed.
We’ve also been busily working behind the scenes on our new membership scheme. Our new package includes a whole host of perks for members, including one-to-one mentoring and a free ticket to our annual conference. Read on for more details.
Until next month,
Caren

What role do expert witnesses play in personal injury cases?
Expert witnesses have a vital role to play in personal injury cases, particularly catastrophic injury claims, which often involve complex injuries.
In our latest blog, wo solicitors from Kennedys – Joe McManus, Partner, and Fiona Hamilton-Wood, Corporate Affairs Lawyer – share their expert insights and reflect on a number of cases where expert evidence has come under the judicial spotlight.

Why we need more medical expert witnesses
A recent article in The Financial Times highlighted the lack of women taking up expert witness work – which is a real concern. But, in fact, there is a general lack of medical expert witnesses (women and men) taking up this role.?And many medical professionals don't realise that you can complete this work alongside your clinical role.
In this short video, Dr Simon Fox KC, a dual-qualified doctor and barrister, offers his take on the situation.
