Welcome to our monthly newsletter!

We are excited to bring you a monthly installment packed with insights on the current market, company news and a selection of resources for both hiring managers and job seekers.

A market overview from our Director, Kayleigh Bysouth CertRP FREC .

During Q1 we saw the market slow down for hiring, with many commenting that this was a product of the technical recession we found ourselves in. However, as we move through Q2 we have seen a significant upturn in the hiring needs of our clients.

Today’s data shows that organisations in East Anglia are moving forwards with recruitment schedules for the year, reporting uplifts in temporary hiring initially with permanent hires next on the agenda. Through recent service reviews companies have told us all year that they will be willing to hire and invest in their business when confidence returns to the wider economy – and there is a glimmer of lower inflation and the prospect of lower interest rates starting to drive that now.

Notably during April we saw pay continuing to rise, and a report today that inflation has dropped to 2.3% confirms that brighter days are ahead for us all. The flexible labour market is at the heart of recruitment for us as a business, whilst also being one of the big success stories of the UK economy, with millions of workers and companies building their futures in ways that would not be possible. I foresee a robust end to Q2 with the peak summer period for many businesses heading for Q3.

Temporary Recruitment Services

Temporary jobs are becoming increasingly popular, and the number of temporary workers in the UK has risen to just under 1.62 million.

Not only does temporary work provide benefits including flexibility and freedom for the candidate, but it can also help employees save time and money when it comes to recruiting. It is also a great opportunity to help both parties gain new knowledge and skills.

What is temporary recruitment?

Temporary recruitment is where you are employed by a company to work on a flexible, temporary basis. This allows the business to hire a candidate to complete specific project work, or cover a busy period.

Temporary employment is usually on a more informal basis, and doesn't usually require a contractual agreement. The employment can usually run for a set number of weeks or months, but there can sometimes be the option of the employer offering the temporary worker a permanent position!

Benefits of Temporary Employment for Candidates

  • You are in control of your work - these roles are usually very flexible and it is far easier to take career breaks and fit your job around your life
  • Great for networking - temporary roles are a great way to meet new people and grow your job searching network
  • Learn new skills and gain experience - temporary roles can be a quick way to gain experience across new industries and positions
  • Protected with access to rights - as a temporary employee you still have rights and are entitled to benefits such as sick pay and holiday allowance, which is calculated by our compliance team

If you are currently looking for temporary work and like the idea of having more flexibility in your role, you can view our current list of temporary vacancies or get in touch with our team directly to discuss your future career.

Benefits of Temporary Employment for Employers

There are huge benefits in employing temporary workers, all of which can save you time, money and resources.

  • Cover seasonal fluctuations - your team can easily adjust to workload fluctuations when they have temporary workers available, for example approaching Christmas, or the Summer holidays
  • Cover unexpected absences - if a member of your team suddenly falls sick and has to take extended leave, you can use temporary employees to cover the exact time your current employee needs off
  • Flexibility - employing temporary workers encourages the work force to remain flexible and suit the needs of a growing business
  • Find the right fit - temporary recruitment allows you to gain a feel for your new employee to ensure they are a good fit for the team
  • Speed of recruitment - hiring temporary workers is a quicker way to recruit, as our team of temporary consultants have a pool of readily available candidates ready to go

If your business is looking to outsource your recruitment process, please do get in touch with us today to find out how we can help!
