May Forecast: Snow. Snow. And more snow in Americas
Winter Is Coming to SF During Snowflake’s Summit ??
The stage is set (literally) for Snowflake Summit 2024 , our biggest event of the year, happening June 3-6 in San Francisco. That’s right, we're leaving Las Vegas and bringing the excitement back to the Bay Area. Four action-packed days with 465 sessions, hands-on labs, and workshops. Speakers from CNN, Instacart, Zoom, JP Morgan Chase, and of course, one or two from Snowflake!?
New this year is ‘Dev Day’—a playground for developers to upskill in GenAI and ML, test out Cortex and Streamlit apps, and witness the Startup Challenge Finale. The opening keynote on Monday with Sridhar Ramaswamy and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is sure to grab some attention. The whole event is an amazing chance to dive into the future of AI and applications with Snowflake. We’ll be back next month to announce some of our big announcements!
Tech Challenge: A Cosmic Quest for Young Innovators ??
Snowflake proudly sponsored The Tech Challenge 2024, where over 2,000 student scientists from grades 4-12 tackled a “cosmic quest”—designing launchers to transport supplies to the moon. With a third of the teams from low-income schools, Snowflake volunteers spent 40+ hours mentoring these young innovators. This was our first year as a principal sponsor, and we couldn’t be prouder. Check out highlights from this stellar event at thetech.org .
Girls' Day: Empowering the Next Generation ????
In partnership with Girls' Day, Snowflake hosted a career orientation day in Berlin, Germany to champion gender equality in tech. Kicking off with Berni Schiefer, Director of Engineering and Berlin Site Lead, the event inspired girls to explore careers in data science, software, and sales engineering. Kudos to our Berlin team and volunteers for making this day impactful and fun!
Q1 Earnings ??
May was a busy month. CEO Sridhar Ramaswamy wrapped up his first quarter at the helm of Snowflake, and announced Q1 earnings :?
“We finished our first quarter with strong performance across many of our key metrics. Product revenue was up 34% year-over-year at nearly $790 million, while remaining performance obligations were $5.0 billion, up 46% year-over-year. Our core business is very strong. Our AI products, now generally available, are generating strong customer interest. They will help our customers deliver effective and efficient AI-powered experiences faster than ever.”
And you know what that means? We’re hiring! Be part of a team that’s building the future of data and AI. Check out our open roles and see how you can make an impact.
