TikTok

  1. Interesting! TikTok is joining the AI bandwagon with a new chatbot called Tako, which will help with search and discovery on TikTok. It's testing this with select users in the Philippines

2. Have you heard of The TikTok Watching Job 2.0? Ubiquitous, an influencer marketing agency, announced it will pay three people $100 an hour to go on a 10-hour TikTok-watching session to help them discover emerging new trends "in the field." If you want to get paid $1,000 each to watch TikTok for 10 hours, apply here. The closing date for entry will be May 31, 2023.

4. Meta Agreed to Sell Giphy to Shutterstock for a $347 Million Loss. In 2020, Meta bought Giphy for $400M and now selling it at $53M—GIFs have fallen out of fashion, and younger users describe GIFs as ‘for boomers’ and ‘cringe??. Also, Meta was slapped with a record $1.3 billion EU fine over data privacy

5. Mark Zuckerberg announced that you can now edit your WhatsApp messages up to 15 mins after you have sent them. Initially, you could just delete the message. If I make a typo, I prefer following up with the right word rather than deleting it. I don't like that "You deleted this message" notification. This is a helpful feature update by WhatsApp, although I haven’t received it yet on my WhatsApp (Android).

Twitter

  • Twitter could end the Twitter Circles, the private chat on Twitter, after Emmett Shear, ex-CEO and co-founder of Twitch, tweeted about it, saying it serves no purpose and Elon Musk Agreed
  • Twitter also introduced Search for Lists on the web to make it easier to search for something. Twitter Lists allow you to customize, organize and prioritize the Tweets you see on your timeline

7. Twitter now shows the new account’s verification history, including the month and year of verification on the Web, but Elon Musk's @elonmusk account shows he has been verified since 3000 BCE. I kid you not! Look at Janet Machuka 's compared to that Elon Musk's. Initially, when you clicked on one’s badge, it showed that they are verified because they have subscribed to Twitter Blue
