This week, the?cuts continued as Breeze reduced their capacity in June 17% week over week, while Delta and JetBlue cut capacity in November and beyond.

Allegiant?cancelled six routes from mid-August onward: Los Angeles (LAX) to Fayetteville, AR (XNA), Cedar Rapids (CID), and Des Moines (DSM); Concord (USA) to Melbourne (MLB) and Ft. Walton Beach (VPS); and Albuquerque (ABQ) to Las Vegas (LAS). Three routes were cancelled from mid-August through September 30th: ABQ to Austin (AUS); Bellingham (BLI) to Palm Springs (PSP); and Baltimore (BWI) to Savannah (SAV). AUS to Fayetteville, AR (XNA) was cancelled from mid-August through November 17th. Appleton (ATW) to SAV and Asheville (AVL) to VPS were cancelled from September 6th through October 31st. Five routes were cancelled from October through November: Nashville (BNA) to Key West (EYW); Indianapolis (IND) to Boston (BOS) and LAX; Ft. Lauderdale (FLL) to XNA; and LAX to Wichita (ICT). They cancelled BNA to Providence (PVD) in November. Lastly, Allegiant removed the following three routes from all future schedules: Austin (AUS) to Punta Gorda (PGD); Phoenix (AZA) to Grand Junction (GJT); and Palm Springs (PSP) to Provo (PVU).
They also loaded seven previously?announced?routes.
American?removed Charlotte (CLT) to Bozeman (BZN) and Jackson Hole (JAC) from their winter schedule.
Breeze?removed Nashville (BNA) to Oklahoma City (OKC) and San Antonio (SAT) to Fayetteville, AR (XNA) from all future schedules. They also cancelled the following six routes in June: Charleston (CHS) to Louisville (SDF); Jacksonville (JAX) to New Orleans (MSY) and Providence (PVD); Palm Beach (PBI) to Norfolk (ORF) and Richmond (RIC); and PVD to Savannah (SAV). They cancelled CHS to Huntsville (HSV) from June 1st through July 31st. JAX to ORF was cancelled from November 15th onward. Lastly, they cancelled the following four routes in January: Columbus (CMH) to SAV; MSY to SDF and XNA; and Pittsburgh (PIT) to PVD.
Delta?reduced domestic capacity between 1% and 3% week over week in July through September and also took some initial reductions in November through January. They pushed the restart of Detroit (DTW) to Sacramento (SMF) until September 11th. They removed Boston (BOS) to Buffalo (BUF); and Cincinnati (CVG) to San Francisco (SFO). Delta also pushed out the restart of CVG to Dallas (DFW) and Chicago (ORD) from November until April 2023. They are adding Orlando (MCO) to Miami (MIA) with twice daily service starting in October.
Denver Air Connection?is taking over the Essential Air Service (EAS) contract for?Alamosa?(ALS) from United, with service starting in June. ALS will pay Denver Air Connection $3.5 million per year.
Frontier?cancelled Atlanta (ATL) to Hartford (BDL) from June 1st-10th and BDL to San Juan (SJU) from June 9th-30th. They are also?ending service?on June 6th to Wilmington, DE (ILG).
JetBlue?reduced domestic capacity 10% week over week in November. They cancelled Ft. Lauderdale (FLL) to Seattle (SEA) in October and cancelled 21 routes from November 1st through December 23d and January 3rd through February 15th. The 21 routes are: Newark (EWR) to Atlanta (ATL), Austin (AUS), Aguadilla (BQN), Charleston (CHS), Jacksonville (JAX), Las Vegas (LAS), Phoenix (PHX), Raleigh-Durham (RDU), and San Diego (SAN); FLL to Cleveland (CLE), Chicago (ORD), Portland (PDX), and SEA; Los Angeles (LAX) to AUS, Palm Beach (PBI), and RDU; Hartford (BDL) to Las Vegas (LAS) and San Francisco (SFO); and BOS to PDX, San Jose (SJC), and Salt Lake City (SLC). Two routes were cancelled from November 1st through December 23rd: LAX to Richmond (RIC) and SEA. FLL to SAN was cancelled November 1st-18th and FLL to PHX was cancelled November 1st-18th, December 1st-20th, and January 3rd-February 15th.
Spirit?cancelled 33 routes from August 1st through September 6th and eight routes from August through September. Please see our?file?with the complete list. They also removed three routes from all future schedules that were originally resuming in August: Atlanta (ATL) to Austin (AUS); Nashville (BNA) to Tampa (TPA) and Dallas (DFW) to Myrtle Beach (MYR).
United?cancelled Dulles (IAD) to?Ogdensburg?(OGS) and?Plattsburgh?(PBG) from July onwards. Contour was recently awarded the Essential Air Service (EAS) contract in those markets that United had requested to leave. OGS and PBG will pay Contour around $5 million per year. United cancelled six markets in September and October: Denver (DEN) to Sarasota (SRQ); Chicago (ORD) to Key West (EYW) and Palm Beach (PBI); Houston (IAH) to SRQ and Ontario (ONT); and IAD to PBI. They cancelled Bangor (BGR) to ORD and Ft. Lauderdale (FLL) to San Francisco (SFO) in October. EYW to IAD was cancelled in September and will operate Saturday only versus daily in October. Los Angeles (LAX) to San Diego (SAN) was brought down from three daily flights to one in October.
United also filed NCAA football special flights: Austin (AUS) to Birmingham (BHM) and Columbus (CMH) to South Bend (SBN). They filed Newark (EWR) to Reno (RNO) for Labor Day weekend, as well.
