Past Events

Engagement Session with EMB X HKMSA X ICMS [HK Chapter]

On April 22nd, Mr. Muhammad Sallehuddin Mohd Dilif from Education Malaysia Beijing (EMB) organised an engagement event involving EMB, the Hong Kong Malaysian Student Association (HKMSA), and ICMS. The event was graced by the presence of Associate Professor Dr. Sharifah Syahirah, Vice Chancellor of Universiti Polytech Malaysia (UPTM), and Dr. Mohd Erfino, Head of Industrial Linkage and Internationalisation at UPTM.

Following a brief address by Kar Hou, President of the Hong Kong Malaysian Student Association (HKMSA), who coordinated the event with EMB, and a speech by Mr. Sallehuddin on his mission to connect with Malaysian students studying abroad, we enjoyed a delightful Malaysian feast while engaging in discussions with the distinguished guests. After the meal, the HKMSA President and the Deputy National Executive Director of ICMS Hong Kong chapter delivered short speeches introducing their organisations. The event concluded with a photo session to commemorate the occasion.

‘Meal and Mingle’ Dinner Bonding Session [HK Chapter]

On the 28th of April, our Internal Affairs and Performance Division organised an exclusive bonding session for our Hong Kong chapter Directors and Associates. This provided an excellent opportunity for all Directors and Associates to connect, converse, and foster unity within the HK chapter. Participants enjoyed engaging conversations over local Dai Pai Dong dishes and delectable desserts. This dinner bonding session allowed our participants to relax and communicate, offering a much-needed break amidst a busy period filled with assignments and exams.

MY Chapter Takes Flight: A Weekend of Bonding and Collaboration [MY Chapter]

The Internal Affairs and Performance Division of the MY Chapter proudly hosted CATHARSIS, the Chapter's inaugural physical bonding trip for this tenure from May 4th to 5th. The event took place at a secluded Airbnb nestled amidst the serenity of Puchong. Over 20 Directors and Associates from the Malaysia chapter representing all divisions came together for this momentous 2-day, 1-night retreat.

CATHARSIS was a whirlwind of engaging activities and heartfelt bonding sessions, all designed to cultivate lasting friendships and a nurturing environment for the future of ICMS. This exclusive event provided a valuable platform for MY Directors and Associates to connect on a deeper level, fostering a spirit of collaboration and camaraderie that will undoubtedly benefit the Chapter in the long run.

Beating the Grind [MY Chapter]

ICMS tackled exam season head-on with a successful study-chill session on 26th of April. This unique event offered a well-received blend of focused studying and social interaction for members by having 2 zones including the "Study Zones" which provided quiet spaces for individual and group work, and the "Chill Zones" which offered a platform to socialise with peers from other Chapters, relax, and take mental breaks. This session boasted a flexible format, allowing participants to drop in and out as needed throughout the evening (starting at 9 PM MYT). Such sessions pave the way for future directions designed to support ICMS members during stressful exam periods.

First Internal Bonding Dinner [SG Chapter]

The SG Chapter held its first internal bonding session on April 21st. Amidst final exams and assignments, our Directors and Associates had a wonderful opportunity to gather and converse. This dinner served as a platform for them to connect with each other and deepen their relationship within ICMS, fostering future cooperation within the SG Chapter. We hope that all the directors and Associates enjoyed their time and grew closer to each other during this bonding session.

On-the-Ground Campus Interview [Industry Insights - Flagship Event]

The Marketing Team of Industry Insights (I2) 2024 embarked on a unique On-the-Ground Campus Interview initiative as part of their marketing strategy on the 9th of May 2024. This endeavour aimed to directly engage with students, providing them with valuable information, gathering their feedback, and, where applicable, learning about their past challenging experiences. The goal was to enhance the event's publicity while delivering educational and entertaining content to their audience.

The interview process commenced at Sunway University, where several students were asked questions related to industry knowledge and job experiences. Following this, the team moved on to University Malaya to continue the interviews. Both sessions were made possible through the collaboration of dedicated Associates within and outside the I2 2024 Committee.

The I2 2024 team wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Associates who contributed to this initiative: Dannon Chin, Edelynn Ooi, Tan Zi Ning, Evon Tan, Giselle Soo, and Issac Kong. Their support was instrumental in the success of the On-The-Ground-Campus Interview, and their efforts are deeply appreciated.
