At a Hospital, a Satisfied Workforce Can Mean Better Outcomes for Patients
Total Worker Health (TWH)?Pilot Grant recipient Marisha Burden, MD, MBA and team recently published in Society of Hospital Medicine JHM describing their study to develop a mobile application to assess, in near real-time, clinicians' perception of workload and work environment. Their work was featured in a new?story for the University of Colorado School of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.?Read more. ?
Research Symposium Highlights Sweeping Efforts to Improve Workplace Health and Safety
At our 15th Annual Research Day Symposium, co-hosted with the?Department of Environmental & Occupational Health?at the Colorado School of Public Health , members of our team?and research partners at the ColoradoSPH, CSU, and the?Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social?presented?many challenges and opportunities for improving health and safety for workers. THIS MONTH
David Shapiro , senior manager of programs and partnerships, recently testified in support of the Substance Use Disorders Recovery (SB24-048) bill, a voluntary employee program to establish workplace programs to prevent addiction and support recovery in employment, with industry partners at the Colorado Capitol. Thanks to these leaders' work, SB24-048 passed the House?Representatives Health & Human Services Committee. ?
Miranda Dally, DrPH , DrPh, a senior research instructor and recent Doctor of Public Health in Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH), was chosen as the 2024 ColoradoSPH commencement student speaker.
Olivia Zarella, DrPH, MPH , a public health communication professional, recently defended her doctoral dissertation in the Department of EOH, and was inducted into the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health. ?
Grant award
Madison Goering, MPH/MSW, (she/ella) and Karely Villarreal Hernandez, MPH ?were awarded a new grant by the?Rocky Mountain Public Health Training Center’s Leadership Learning Program for Professionals working in Public Health and Community Health Centers.?The project will?empower Latino-owned businesses & professionals to learn and implement TWH concepts.
