World Illustration Awards 2024 Longlist Announced!
We are delighted to share that the Longlist for the World Illustration Awards 2024 has been announced and is now live on the AOI website! The Longlist of 500 projects has been selected from over 5,000 entries by a?team of 30 judges.?The Longlisted projects will be unveiled by category every day until June 1st.?
The Awards are run by the AOI in partnership with us here at the Directory of Illustration. This year we are excited to celebrate great illustration from across the globe, with an emphasis on supporting and connecting illustrators with each other and the industry.
Work Spotlight - Danijel??e?elj
We're delighted to share a Work Spotlight on danijel zezelj , whose?latest graphic novel,?Like a Dog, is?based on selected works by Franz Kafka (A Hunger Artist, The Trial, Blue Notebooks, A Message from the Emperor).

Work Spotlight?-?Scott DuBar
We're excited to share a Work Spotlight on Scott DuBar and a dream project he completed for Brain Quest's 30th Anniversary series of bestselling workbooks and deck cards. He created over 2,500 spot illustrations, half and full-page illustrations, and four fold-out poster illustrations.
Jeff Hinchee - The New York Times
Jeff Hinchee did the cover of last Sunday's NY Times Business section, for an article about how Gen Z students are making career choices early on at university that will hopefully set them up with financial security and stability given inflation, the high cost of rent, student debt, and medical care in America.

Chris Smith illustrated a series of caricatures for the second annual?Politico Magazine?“awards” recognizing the members of Congress who have worked the hardest at getting media attention.

Kotryna Zukauskaite illustrated the Project Management Institute’s report on Global Project Management Job Trends in 2024. Kotryna’s illustrations provide visual narratives of the changing landscape of project management, especially as AI continues to evolve.

Steven Noble - Old Log Cabin
Studio Bartlett and Lyric, Inc. commissioned Steven Noble to render a new customized woodcut illustration for a packaging label called Old Log Cabin located in the Pacific Northwest. This bourbon whiskey brand’s roots reach deep into American history, back to 1840, when E.G. Booz – a young man of 16 at the time – made his first batch of liquid goodness demanded by a thirsty community. The illustration depicts a traditional old logo cabin in the woods with smoke coming out of the chimney created in a woodcut etching style.

Peter Strain?is an AOI Critics' Choice Award-winning illustrator based in Belfast. He specializes in creating carefully composed, hand-rendered illustration and typography. His work is hugely influenced by film and music and aims to tackle social, political and cultural issues with a highly distinctive hand lettering style, bold imagery and humor.?

Aki Jiang is a freelance illustrator currently based in Shanghai, China. She strongly believes that art comes from life. She intends?to deliver the passion of life through her illustrations, so most of her creations are colorful and warm. Due to Aki’s working experience as a graphic designer, she prefers to use simple shapes to compose her illustrations.
