The 5th of June marks World Environment Day! This year's theme focuses on addressing the issue of plastic pollution, with a strong focus on finding solutions through the #BeatPlasticPollution campaign. It's not surprising to learn that approximately 91% of the plastic we utilise goes unrecycled. Exploring the implications of this topic is crucial, but first, let's take a moment to recap the highlights of my May Newsletter.
I had an amazing time at the Global Sustainable Development Congress hosted by KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) and organised by Times Higher Education . It was inspiring to see academia, industries, and governments coming together to make a positive impact. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and got to witness the power of collaboration. I was also honored to moderate a keynote session with William McDonough , a renowned architect and circular economy pioneer, at the congress's opening. The congress concluded with the unveiling of the Times Higher Education's Impact Rankings for 2023.
