Maxis is probing a purported cybersecurity breach.

Maxis Berhad is currently examining the legitimacy of a reported cybersecurity breach affecting its systems.

Earlier today, tech outlets disclosed that the hacker collective identified as "R00TK1T ISC Team" asserted that they had breached Maxis's data.

Maxis released a statement indicating that while it hadn't detected any issues with its own systems, it had uncovered a "potential incident involving unauthorized access" to one of its third-party vendor systems.

The telecommunications provider clarified that this system is situated external to Maxis' internal network infrastructure.

Maxis stated that it is collaborating with the third-party vendor to delve deeper into the matter and has also notified relevant authorities.

Additionally, Maxis mentioned that it is implementing extra defensive measures to bolster the resilience of its systems and minimize further risks.

"We prioritize the privacy and security of our customers. Our main focus remains on conducting a thorough assessment and containment," the statement concluded.

Maxis said it would continue to provide necessary updates on the investigation.
