Increasing productivity means getting more stuff done in a given window. Here I will not focus on Deep Work or techniques such as Pomodoro or the concept of Parkinson’s Law. Instead, it’s understanding the importance of our ability to oscillate from flat-out to full recovery for maximum output. ?The key here is to apply Active Recovery (AR) protocols to recharge.
Today in our fast-paced world filled with responsibilities and stressors, finding ways to recharge and maximize our energy levels has become essential for overall wellbeing and productivity. While traditional methods of rest and relaxation are beneficial, incorporating AR protocols into our routine will take our energy levels to new heights.
Active recovery involves engaging in gentle physical activity or mindfulness practices that help to promote relaxation, reduce muscle soreness, and enhance the body's ability to recover from intense physical or mental exertion. By incorporating these protocols into our routine, we can tap into our parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for rest and relaxation, and allow our bodies to recharge and rejuvenate.
I use these AR protocols that can allow you to achieve maximum energy levels. Let’s review these:
1. Breath-work: Practicing deep breathing exercises can help to calm the mind, reduce stress, and increase oxygen levels in the body, leading to a boost in energy levels. Breath in through the nose and exhale through the mouth; focus on “belly breathing” and try a simply 4” in hold for 1” 4 “ out.
2. Nature walks: Spending time in nature has been shown to have numerous benefits for both physical and mental wellbeing. Walking in nature can help reduce stress, improve mood, and increase energy levels.

3. Cold showers or baths: Cold water immersion has been found to have numerous health benefits, including reducing inflammation, improving circulation, and boosting immunity. Taking a cold shower or bath can help invigorate the body and increase energy levels
4. Exercise: Engaging in light to moderate exercise, such as running or working out, can help to increase blood flow, release endorphins, and improve overall energy levels. Just be mindful not to overexert yourself, as this can have the opposite effect and that’s not what’s needed.
5. Meditation: Practicing mindfulness meditation has been shown to reduce stress, improve focus, and increase energy levels. Taking just a few minutes each day to meditate can help calm the mind and recharge the body. Personally, I do 15 min every morning.
?By incorporating these AR protocols into our routine, we can tap into our body's natural ability to recharge and rejuvenate, leading to our ability to re-energise by charging our energy levels, thus enhanced productivity, and overall wellbeing.
So, the next time you're feeling drained or overwhelmed, consider trying one of these protocols to help you achieve maximum energy levels and make the most out of your day. ______________________________________________________________________________
Hi, I’m an engineer that 5 years ago shifted into the fitness space. Longevity is a field I’m very interested in, and I share my thoughts and findings with my community.? My team and I coach primarily people in the 40s, 50s and 60s on how to live healthy, build muscle, sleep great and reduce stress by creating great habits. I’m a marathon runner who loves to lift weights. I follow the hybrid lifestyle; who said that running and lifting can’t go well together?
At 57 I believe age is just a number. Mentors such as Andrew Huberman and Peter Attia are world-class scientists who I follow to ensure that my advice and coaching is science-based.

8 个月Fantastic Hec Salgado! This is such a comprehensive synopsis of well-being, masterfully put together! I'm on a break from working on the project and this made valuable reading and reminder! Thank you! Not only for this amazing article but for the abundance of knowledge you share, as always! I just had to respond! Keep up the awesome work and have a wonderful weekend, my friend. I still have to adapt to cold showers but I have reverted to cold face splash in the mornings, it works!
I should do cold showers more often, thanks for sharing this Hec ????
