Maximizing Custom Workflows with Jochen H?lscher & Yury Nasonov
??
?? Speaker Spotlight: Jochen H?lscher & Yury Nasonov - Innovating Custom Workflows in Rhino and Grasshopper?
Yury Nasonov, Lead Computational Designer and Software Developer, along with Jochen H?lscher, owner and director of Dipl.-Ing Hoelscher GmbH /No Doubts, are experts in automating design processes and enhancing usability in Rhino and Grasshopper. Yury and Jochen will share their insights into how custom workflows can be maximized for better efficiency and effectiveness.?
?
?? Meet the Expert: "I am Yury Nasonov, a lead computational designer and software developer at Hoelscher GmbH/No Doubts GmbH, with background in architecture. I work on automation of design processes along with working on some complex projects and researches. With flexibility of Rhino and Grasshopper we work with Point clouds, create BIM objects, automate design processes, experiment with AI and user interfaces.(YN)?
I am Jochen H?lscher, owner and director of the companies Dipl.- Ing H?lscher Gmbh/Nodoubts. My challenge is to optimizes the planning process for the building envelope and complex facades. (JH)?
Hoelscher GmbH is specialised on complex facades from detailing drawings to production and installation of the facade elements."?
?
?? What I'll Be Sharing: "How can we maximise usability of custom workflows in Rhino and Grasshopper? How to make its usage more effective? We will demonstrate tools that we developed using Grasshopper and C#. As the learning curve for developing custom solutions based on Grasshopper/Rhino is quite steep, many Rhino users might be interested in using or developing custom tools but haven't had the opportunity."?
?
?? Our Journey with Rhino: "? Yury: About 14 years ago, when I have heard that there is an app where it is much easier to create “Zaha Hadid-style” geometry than in 3DsMax. It was Rhino. So it was not possible to resist. After a while I found myself teaching Rhino Grasshopper in a university, having a group with thousands of subscribers and using it for a variety of totally different projects.??
Jochen: I have started my journey with mechanical CAD systems like Catia, Pro/E, Solidworks and Inventor and concluded that this wouldn′t be the right tools for creating fa?ade projects.? Then I met Dominik at Imagine Computation and their approach to plan Fa?ades with Rhino/GH ??.?

Right now we are working on a project Freiham Nord in München that has includes 6m-length curved GFRC stones. Besides modelling the stones for manufacturing, we create the whole 3d of the building in Rhino and Grasshopper, analysing laser scan of concrete walls to create substructure. That included collaborative work with other team members."?

?? What's Shaping the Future: "New solutions related to BIM, especially open-source ones - I hope they will make our work faster and experience - better. Also solutions related to collaboration, interoperability and AI are very exciting.?
I think it would be beneficial for users if McNeel focuses on possibility to customise workflows make it even more flexible platform for developing tailored tools. And yes, working with multiple Rhino and Grasshopper files in one important."?
?
?? What I'm Looking Forward To: "These kinds of events often work like an ignition to rethinking of the processes:? Why we are doing it that way and what it should be? I hope that attendees will get new insights on workflows, usability and possibilities, that it is possible to tailor the workflow to a degree of what your fantasy allows."?
?
?? A Fun Fact About Me: "I feel that I was using grasshopper for everything - for automating examination of my students, for creating CV and for working with files that have nothing in common with 3D like excel and word files."?
