An optimized website plays a huge factor in CRO. One thing I notice businesses doing wrong is using it as a collection bin of data that's counter-intuitive. For example, I use white papers to generate leads for vendors. But do you know what 98% of vendors do with theirs? Tuck them behind a tab on their website. Letting it gather dust and die. Taking them off and making them part of a living, breathing funnel is the best option. And I think speaks to your points on user experience and CTA.
