Maximize Conference Attendance

As the World continues to open up, so do many onsite (and online) conferences for Maximo. With the greater number of us traveling MORE, here are a few reminders to make sure you get the most out of each you attend, which is where you can gain the most for your company dollar. To help you along with events to consider, look here: https://moremaximo.com/events/calendar

Pre-event

Before the event occurs, you can usually find some type of agenda so you get an even better idea than what is in the title of the event. This is the first thing to review, and then:

  • Create target questions and prioritize them (your questions and those of your team)
  • Submit the most important in advance if possible
  • For events with multiple presentations/sessions, preview the vendor list - research who is there for what
  • Demo Room? If so, see if what you want to see will be there and get your questions/scenarios ready

BRING THE QUESTIONS YOU NEED ANSWERS TO AND...

  • Prioritize the list - time may not be on your side
  • Shoot for those you can hopefully get answered quickly
  • Bring the hard ones
  • Distribute questions / vendors / demos across your team if you have one - get the most use of everyone's time

Confirm expo times when vendors are in their booths

  • Make an appointment if you are ready, and make contact as you may be able to get your concerns addressed quickly, if not in advance

Try to confirm who else is coming that you may wish to network with

Review the session agenda

  • Target sessions you wish to attend and do your best to show up
  • Prioritize the sessions you will attend and who you will see/speak to; again, if you have colleagues with you, spread out and cover more territory

During the Event

If the meeting is online, there is likely a place to enter questions. Plan to use this throughout. Even if they don’t get to your question, they should follow up and get back to you and others with answers. Try to show up as just getting the recording will not allow you to get your questions asked/answered.

For on-site events, now that you have completed your ‘Pre-event’ preparation, you are ready. Don’t be bashful; get in there and interact! Many vendors will bring more than sales/demo staff; often, subject matter experts are there as well and are happy to have the challenge!

Post-event

Document what you learned in the level of detail you are comfortable with, and plan to share the experience with your team. Do this soon after you return from the conference while it is still fresh.

Your call to action is to use what you have learned.?
