Read & Stay Curious
Curiosity keeps us open to new ideas. Unfortunately, we let this curiosity muscle atrophy as we age. Staying curious doesn’t just prevent cognitive decline; it’s also the key to continuous learning and growth. Reading is just as important. It helps us explore new concepts, question our assumptions and can stimulate curiosity. It is the fastest way to get access to tons of different ideas and some of the greatest minds across history!
Mindfulness & Meditation
Mindfulness and meditation are powerful tools for strengthening our brain’s resilience. They can be incorporated and stacked into ordinary everyday routines that you’re already doing. Simple rituals like drinking tea mindfully or going for a mindful walk can become meditative experiences that sharpen our sensory awareness and reduce stress. By practicing "active noticing" in our day-to-day tasks, we become awake and present to our lives, and stop living on auto-pilot mode.
Provocative Prompts
Ask yourself difficult questions, and if your answer is always, “I don’t know”, ask yourself “But if you did know, what would the answer be?”
Such prompts force you to look at things in different ways.
Are you challenging your brain enough to prevent cognitive decline? Are you asking yourself difficult and reflective questions to stimulate your brain and encourage learning? The daily prompts in the I Am Well Journal that Rachel and I created does exactly that in order to help people towards a fulfilling and balanced life.
Our brains are incredible tools that, when nurtured, can unlock boundless potential. Start today by investing in brain-friendly habits, and watch your productivity, creativity, and joy for life flourish. And if you're ready to take it a step further, get on the list for the I Am Well Journal and join our Deep Human Club for ongoing support on your journey to wellness and growth.

3 个月Crystal...today's article (like so many) arrived at the right time as I try to be a more authentic human seeking to think deeply about my aging experience. In my 3rd read my thinking went from calm to race, back to calm with a sense of joy and appreciation for your work. Reminded of our brief by deeply human connections with you and Greg in Singapore and at our Fort Collins brunch and Who You Are Matters game. So enjoy what you and Greg have taught me...may we four connect again soon. Deep and most human warm regards. rich
