Maximising Workforce Productivity: Hallam Medical at the UHUK Clinical Forum

On Wednesday, 12 February, Hallam Medical attended the Urgent Health UK ( UHUK ) Clinical Forum which took place in Birmingham.

As Associate Partners of UHUK, Chief Executive of Hallam Medical, Deborah McCain McCain, and Chief Nurse, Lisa Locker presented their presentation, “Flexible Workforce Productivity and How Hallam Medical Ensures This Meets Service Requirements.”

OneAdvanced Health & Care hosted the forum at their Birmingham office, with 27 attendees from 20 organisations.

During the session, they discussed how Hallam Medical works with service providers to ensure they maximise the use of the flexible workforce and ensure value for money, how we work with our clients to achieve efficiency and drive productivity, and how we provide support with opportunities to improve service design by providing adaptive workforces.

At the forum, Deborah and Lisa discussed how clinical input contributes to productivity, highlighting the following key areas:

  • With increasing pressures on Urgent Care, Primary Care, and community health services, flexible workforces can play a pivotal role in maintaining service continuity and meeting patient demand.
  • Healthcare demands fluctuate, and the flexible workforce provides essential flexibility, allowing services to respond quickly to changing needs.
  • Our extensive clinical knowledge and oversight mean we can match Hallam Medical locums to the needs of our clients’ services.
  • Encourage temporary and permanent staff to work together in a positive and productive environment.
  • Flexible workforces should not be seen as a temporary fix but as an integral part of the workforce strategy.
  • Save valuable clinical time by clinically reviewing CVs, ensuring skill sets match, and conducting interviews.
  • By addressing gaps in service, which leads to increased pressure on the existing workforce.
  • Staff shortages lead to burnout and job dissatisfaction among permanent employees.
  • Prioritise clinicians with relevant experience and strong references to match roles effectively.
  • Provide clear guidelines to help locum clinicians integrate smoothly and deliver quality care.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank UHUK for inviting us to attend the Clinical forum. We had a great day networking with you all and look forward to future networking sessions where we can collaborate and continue to support each other.
