Recovering from a long period of catching up on work that was pending since mid-Jan, got me thinking about how I needed to maximise my productivity. In today's fast-paced work environment, teams face numerous challenges in meeting deadlines and navigating unfamiliar processes, especially for new members. However, with the right support and tools in place, teams can overcome these hurdles and achieve greater productivity, however many times when we juggle we kinda skip these tools, so I decided to take an hour and regroup my thoughts and list my tasks. here is my list.
Leadership Support: Mentoring, Coaching, Advising, and Training
Effective leadership support plays a crucial role in providing guidance and direction to team members. Through mentoring, coaching, advising, and training, leaders can help their teams navigate challenges and improve productivity. By investing in the growth and development of team members, leaders foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement. most importantly, give space for teammates to share in a safe environment. daily check-ins work best for this.
Productivity Tools: Time Boxing and Knowledge Capture
One of the most effective productivity tools is time boxing, which involves allocating specific periods to tasks and projects. By setting clear boundaries and prioritizing tasks, teams can better manage their time and increase efficiency. Additionally, capturing knowledge and sharing lessons learned and best practices within the organization helps teams leverage collective expertise and avoid reinventing the wheel. one of the methods i learned, was the concept of the 21-box? where the day was cut into 30 min chunks, for sales representatives. It worked well for me and it allowed me to have pockets of focus away from the screen time allocated and still meet my day's objective.
Leveraging Organizational Knowledge: Revitalizing Communities of Practice
Organisations can further enhance productivity by revitalising communities of practice. These communities provide a platform for sharing knowledge, insights, and experiences among team members. By encouraging collaboration and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, organizations tap into their collective intelligence and drive innovation. one of the best processes for me is that of CoPs, we should bever discount the power of conversations, this is where innovative ideas usually result in more efficient work processes.
Daily Check-Ins: Ensuring Communication and Support

Daily check-ins are essential for keeping track of workload and providing support to team members. By fostering open communication and collaboration, teams can address challenges more effectively and stay aligned with their goals. At Acies Innovations we do check-ins every morning for 30 minutes and a closure on Fridays where we wrap up our week. These check-ins serve as a valuable opportunity for team members to share updates, ask for help, and raise concerns in a safe and supportive environment.
Overcoming Resistance to Change with Effective Communication
Introducing new initiatives and tools can sometimes be met with resistance from team members. However, effective communication is key to gaining buy-in and minimising resistance. By clearly articulating the benefits and rationale behind changes, leaders can help their teams understand the value of adopting new practices and tools. We practice this strictly, with training, sharing and guidance. it has worked well for us and we have also made changes to how we conduct our workshops. just last week we launched our intensive 4-hour workshop, a new initiative to meet the demands of time for participants and it was well received.
?Success Stories and Key Learnings
At Acies Innovations, we've seen first-hand the impact of leadership support and organizational knowledge on team productivity. Through our workshops, we've helped teams improve efficiency by implementing productivity and knowledge tools. By sharing success stories and key learnings, we inspire others to adopt similar strategies and drive positive change within their organizations. Storytelling is one of the best ways that we can send a message.

8 个月A check-in before our weekly meetings has become a standard norms in my department. I was quite skeptical about this practice when I first joined the organisation. In fact, there was a time when I was teased for not understanding what a check-in meant during a Zoom session. I mistakenly conducted an audio quality check, similar to a typical comms check in military context. ?? However, such cultural shift has had a substantial impact on the way we conduct our meetings. The team's bonding has strengthened, and we have become more open in our sharing as a result.
