Maximising AI's Potential with Powerful Social Media Prompts
Incorporating AI into hospitality operations goes beyond adopting the latest tools, it's about knowing how to communicate with these technologies to get the best results.
Prompting AI effectively can transform it from a simple tool into a valuable assistant, streamlining tasks from content creation to customer service. But crafting the right prompts isn’t always straightforward.
For hospitality professionals, understanding how to frame questions and commands can unlock AI’s full potential, enabling more personalised guest experiences, efficient operations, and data driven decision making.?
This article dives into strategies for creating effective AI prompts to maximise results in the hospitality sector.
When using AI, it's easy to fall into the habit of giving simple prompts, but this often results in generic, unhelpful responses. For instance, if you prompt an AI tool with 'suggest a dinner menu,' you might get a broad list of dishes like 'pasta, steak, and salad,' which lacks the specificity needed to create a truly appealing dining experience. Similarly, asking 'how can I improve customer service?' could yield general advice such as 'be more attentive' or 'offer discounts,' without addressing the unique challenges of your establishment.?
How do you prompt Ai in a way that get’s you real value? Here’s some tips in getting the best from your local desktop Robot marketeer, I will follow with a copy and paste prompt for you to try that’ll give you all you need for a weeks social content framework, whatever your business.
Many small businesses depend on strong social media campaigns and regular posting, but coming up with fresh content ideas can be challenging. That’s where AI comes in, it serves as a valuable tool for creating templates, developing plans to enhance existing efforts, or providing a starting point. However, directly copying and pasting AI-generated content can lead to copyright issues, and it often comes across as unoriginal.
So here’s an example of a type of prompt that I’ve seen, in use by social media mangers.

“Hi, I’d like a week of Instagram post ideas for my business. We are a Pub called The Robots arms in the west of England and we specialise in fish and chips as we overlook the harbour”
Now this may sound like you’ll get what you want and maybe it will, but you’re missing a trick. The personal element, this post plan will not be unique enough to your business so will not speak to your potential customers. Instead try promoting the bot to get to know you, your business or particular events, with the addition of adding how you would like this presented to you.
Here’s one for you to try yourself, and one I have shared time and time again to help my clients build a social media content structure without breaking the bank:
“I need to create a social media content calendar to post on instagram for the next week, one post per day. My business is (Insert the nature of your business here). I want a balance of posts where some are educational and funny and some are selling my product/business. You will need to help me with this as well as providing the full calendar. First you will ask me 15 questions about my business, product and audience until you have enough information. The you will provide me with a content calendar formatted in a table with the day and nature of post in one column, text caption in one column, and an Ai image prompt in the second. The image prompt will include a description of the image with a short slogan or heading to be included. In the final column will be five hashtags for each post, formatted so I can copy and paste.”
Feel free to use my prompt above and share how it works out for you! Keep in mind, this is best used as a guide or inspiration for your social media plan rather than finalised content adding your personal touch is always key.

This is brilliant - it’s also worth noting that the latest GPT upgrade also ‘learns’ so scheduling in bite sized chunks will help it ‘learn’ more about you and build a narrative with more detail and texture. Thanks for sharing
