As we open Chapter 20 in Matthew, I do want to remind you as we read through Matthew, the conversations between Jesus and Religious Leadership will get increasingly nasty, with Jesus getting more bluntly honest building up to the Eight woes.

We will also notice that the Temple cleansing that Jesus performed, is over due for the Majority of the Western Churches, that are so business minded that they are NO heavenly good.

When Christ alone is KING of the Church, Yes Synagogue and Mosque we have a true LEADER, and a pursuit of HIS example of LOVE, with No envy of the “Size of the Congregation” “Size Of The Building” only a care for our fellow mankind.

We will see in the coming weeks the need to purge our Leadership Boards, in Presbyterianism this would be purging ALL who were appointed by the Pastor “seeing gifts” simply because they agreed with Him or Her, and had successful businesses NOT any proof of Teaching ability.

We will also see, that the ONLY to Offices are Elder (or Overseer/Bishop) and Deacon and that Deacons after First being Tested are Chosen from the Elders!

First Reading

Job 42

1 ? Then Job answered the LORD and said,

?2 "I know that You can do all things, And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.

?3 'Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?' "Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know."

?4 'Hear, now, and I will speak; I will ask You, and You instruct me.'

?5 "I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; But now my eye sees You;

?6 Therefore I retract, And I repent in dust and ashes."

?7 ? It came about after the LORD had spoken these words to Job, that the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends, because you have not spoken of Me what is right as My servant Job has.

?8 "Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves, and My servant Job will pray for you. For I will accept him so that I may not do with you according to your folly, because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has."

?9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the LORD told them; and the LORD accepted Job.

?10 ? The LORD restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the LORD increased all that Job had twofold.

?11 Then all his brothers and all his sisters and all who had known him before came to him, and they ate bread with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversities that the LORD had brought on him. And each one gave him one piece of money, and each a ring of gold.

?12 The LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; and he had 14,000 sheep and 6,000 camels and 1,000 yoke of oxen and 1,000 female donkeys.

?13 He had seven sons and three daughters.

?14 He named the first Jemimah, and the second Keziah, and the third Keren-happuch.

?15 In all the land no women were found so fair as Job's daughters; and their father gave them inheritance among their brothers.

?16 After this, Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons and his grandsons, four generations.

?17 And Job died, an old man and full of days.

Second Reading and Lesson

Mt 20:1 ? "For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.

?2 "When he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius for the day, he sent them into his vineyard.

?3 "And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the market place;

?4 and to those he said, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.' And so they went.

?5 "Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did the same thing.

?6 "And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing around; and he *said to them, 'Why have you been standing here idle all day long?'

?7 "They said to him, 'Because no one hired us.' He said to them, 'You go into the vineyard too.'

?8 "When evening came, the owner of the vineyard *said to his foreman, 'Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last group to the first.'

?9 "When those hired about the eleventh hour came, each one received a denarius.

?10 "When those hired first came, they thought that they would receive more; but each of them also received a denarius.

?11 "When they received it, they grumbled at the landowner,

?12 saying, 'These last men have worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the scorching heat of the day.'

?13 "But he answered and said to one of them, 'Friend, I am doing you no wrong; did you not agree with me for a denarius?

?14 'Take what is yours and go, but I wish to give to this last man the same as to you.

?15 'Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with what is my own? Or is your eye envious because I am generous?'

?16 "So the last shall be first, and the first last."

?17 ? As Jesus was about to go up to Jerusalem, He took the twelve disciples aside by themselves, and on the way He said to them,

?18 "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death,

?19 and will hand Him over to the Gentiles to mock and scourge and crucify Him, and on the third day He will be raised up."

?20 ? Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Jesus with her sons, bowing down and making a request of Him.

?21 And He said to her, "What do you wish?" She *said to Him, "Command that in Your kingdom these two sons of mine may sit one on Your right and one on Your left."

?22 But Jesus answered, "You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?" They *said to Him, "We are able."

?23 He *said to them, "My cup you shall drink; but to sit on My right and on My left, this is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by My Father."

?24 And hearing this, the ten became indignant with the two brothers.

?25 But Jesus called them to Himself and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them.

?26 "It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant,

?27 and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave;

?28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

?29 ? As they were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed Him.

?30 And two blind men sitting by the road, hearing that Jesus was passing by, cried out, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!"

?31 The crowd sternly told them to be quiet, but they cried out all the more, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!"

?32 And Jesus stopped and called them, and said, "What do you want Me to do for you?"

?33 They *said to Him, "Lord, we want our eyes to be opened."

?34 Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.

1: Hiring For A Day’s Pay

Here is what seems to be a simple question, but yet, also can be so twisted, but seriously answer this please.

If you are hired for a day and agree for $200.00, isn’t it the right of the Person who hired you to pay the sum agreed upon?

So, I am sure you all would agree that if the you or the person you know worked the agreed hours and not more, the wage would be fair and acceptable.

But Jesus purposely sets tension in the example in HIS parable so that the question of possible fairness would be in play, keeping in mind that The Landowner, and the Laborers had agreed to terms.

Next Jesus purposely sets up that those hired throughout the day doing the say work side by side with the first hires would be in play.

So, at the end of the day the last Hired received the Denarius, and each other group received the same Denarius as agreed.

?But why would this be in play?

At your place of work, are you doing the exact same job as people making more than you simply because of seniority, and is that fair?

Well, you really have to admit, this is the system we agree to, so yes it is very fair.

This will bring us quickly to point 2

2: Is It Not The Right Of The Landowner To Pay The Agreed Wage?

Though we somewhat answered the question in the previous point, still let’s dig in on whether the LANDOWNER (All caps should be a Hint On Who The LANDOWNER Is) is treating The Hires fairly?

Well, Yes, the LANDOWNER is calling people to HIS work at differing times of the Day of “life” and indeed HE indeed Is giving the same reward, regardless of the calling time, but is this truly fair, as some get to live a “full” life as they wanted to live, while some live “Only” for the LORD the majority of their lives.

Now if you have never heard such a thought, I almost fear you have been living a sheltered life, as I have heard this numerous times.

Our third point will address this, so lets just stick to the LANDOWNER.

Who do we think the LANDOWNER is in the Parable? (Remember the CAPS and the Hebrew Tradition to do what to the Name of the LORD)

Yes, the LANDOWNER Is the LORD, and as we will see in these Parables where Jesus is exposing the Religious Leadership, HE will be using HIS FATHER as the LANDOWNER, The VINEYARD OWNER, THE KING and the Wedding Feast (That should have our minds quickly snap to the Wedding of the LAMB and HIS Church) as these Parables also tell us that perhaps the “Chosen People” are only the Chosen Path of the Christ as over and over they are rejecting the LANDOWNER, and KING and being destroyed.

Let’s go to point 3

?

3: How Does This Show Us Heavenly Work & Pay?

I really hope the HOLY SPIRIT has opened our eyes to this wonderful truth that the people called by HIS mercy early in life are the ones to be envied, as they have had their eyes opened to the truth of Life, and in Jesus Christ are living in a small way the true life, meant for all to live before the fall, and the Life we will Get to live with the FATHER, SON & HOLY SPIRIT for eternity in Heaven.

So, in fact The ones whose eyes have been opened by the will of our FATHER, are the ones in Christ who have been allowed the Honor of living their earthly lives for Christ, and indeed Not Hungering & Thirsting for Earthly Treasure.

As with the example of the Thief on the Cross, and the example of Moses, One lived for 120 years and served the LORD 80 of those years, most very stressful, the Thief of the Cross lived perhaps 1 day in the service of the LORD, and yet each received Heaven as the reward, and yet with the HOLY SPIRIT Opening our Eyes we should be able to acknowledge that Moses was blessed with the fuller and more blessed Life, as by the Mercy of GOD it was lived for HIM, and assured of Eternity, the Thief was only assured of Salvation that last hour, what a sad life up until the end.

So, as it is written Luke 15:1 ? Now all the tax collectors and the sinners were coming near Him to listen to Him.

?2 Both the Pharisees and the scribes began to grumble, saying, "This man receives sinners and eats with them."

?3 So He told them this parable, saying,

?4 "What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?

?5 "When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

?6 "And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!'

?7 "I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.

?8 "Or what woman, if she has ten silver coins and loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?

?9 "When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin which I had lost!'

?10 "In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

The fruit of Regeneration is to Rejoyce over the one whose eyes have been opened.

The LORD’S Feast

We Sit and Use Raised Bread and A Full Cup of Grape Juice (not wine do to the amount) as Christ has Completed the Work, and has called us NOT to Stand shoes on, staff in our hand ready to flee, but in HIS finished work, HE commands us to Have a Seat, take your shoes off, relax, no need to rush, let the bread dough rise.

1Co 11:23 ? For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread;

?24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me."

?25 In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

?26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.

?27 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.

?28 But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

?29 For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly.

When I serve Communion I serve a Raised Roll on Purpose, and a Cup of Grape Juice (4 oz) can you guess why?

Yes, The Lord’s Table we are to have a Seat, take your shoes off, no need the rush, Jesus has indeed Finished the Work.
