“IT” MATTERS HOW YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF
It matters how you introduce yourself on your radio show. This is such a tiny thing, but important. An object is an “it.” It’s a ball. It’s a taco. YOU are not an “it.” You would never walk up to someone in person, stick out your hand, and say, “Hi, it’s (insert your name).”? You would say, “I’m (insert your name).” Let’s dive into this week’s Beyond The 615 Column, article # 125.
Because radio is 1-on-1 and personal you should introduce yourself in a very personal way like:
“I’m (insert your name).”
“My name's (insert your name).”
“That’s Lauren Daigle with me (insert your name).”
You can also add “Hi," “Hello,” “I’m glad you’re here,” “I’m glad you’re listening,” “Thanks for listening,” “I hope you’re well” before or after your introduction to avoid sounding predictable.
HERE’S THE TAKEAWAY
Be personal. Using “it’s (insert your name)” sounds like an impersonal cell phone greeting. You can avoid falling into a predictable pattern by writing down various introductions and rotating through them.??
