Mathematics as a Subject

And one of the problems we have in Secondary School #Mathematics is bringing in pupils who were thought Mathematics by a #Primary School teacher that majored in Social Studies...even the teacher herself is afraid of mathematics.

A pupil who isn't prepared in primary school becomes a serious problem to a secondary #school Mathematics Teacher. They struggle a lot to learn; and in most case, they end up not learning anything. It's always very difficult for them to cope with the JSS1 first term scheme.

But they can be helped, such students should be subjected to individualized #instruction; Teachers should avoid the use of abstract concepts and create an effective class opener with relevant, practical teaching-aids. They should rather be thought in either a mathematics corner or lab for easy access to practical #teaching approach.

I agree with you! You can't build on a poor foundation.?
