The Mathematics of the Israeli Palestinian Conflict

There have been quite a few claims on the Social Media regarding Israel and its treatment of the Palestinians.

Genocide

 Per the Webster dictionary the legal Definition of genocide is: 

 acts committed with intent to partially or wholly destroy a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group; also : the crime of committing such an act

In other words - Israel + Genocide = 0 Palestinians

If we try to prove this equation we will find that the population of Palestinians has increased over tenfold since the early 1900’s from about 600,000 to over SIX MILLION (world wide).

If Israel were trying to commit genocide on the Palestinian people, she is doing a terrible job at it…

Apartheid

Again, per the Webster dictionary, Apartheid is racial segregation; specifically: a former policy of segregation and political and economic discrimination against non-European groups in the Republic of South Africa.

Well, first of all, all the definitions of Apartheid specifically name South Africa. But, even if we remove South Africa from the definition, Israel does not fit the meaning.

In other words - Israel + Apartheid = 0 Palestinians in politics or economic positions.

Now, is there empirical evidence to prove this hypothesis?

a.    There are currently 17 members of the Israeli Parliament that are Arab, twelve from the Joint Arab List and 5 from 5 different mainstream Israeli political parties

b.    Of the judges that sit in courts of law, 8% are Arabs, including a Supreme Court Judge (Salim Joubran), one of the most respected Financial/Economic judges in Israel (Khaled Kabub) and one of the three judges that tried former Israeli president Katsav (George Kara)

c.     There are Arab ambassadors and consuls-generals including two Druze ambassadors, in Norway and the Dominican Republic (Professor Naim Araidi and Bahij Mansur)

d.   There are quite a few Arabs in the Israeli cultural scene including a winning performance in “The Voice” (Lina Mikhul), “Master Chef” (Nof Atamna-Ismaeel), “The Models 2” (Nerel Karantagi) and Miss Israel (Rana Raslan). Israel has also been represented in the European Song Contest (Eurovision) by Mira Awad

If Israel were trying to commit Apartheid against the Palestinian people, she is doing a terrible job at it…

Ethnic Cleansing

Just last September (2016) Muhammad Abbas said that Israel was carrying out “ethnic cleansing” against the Palestinians.

Per the Encyclopedia Britannica, “Ethnic Cleansing” is the attempt to create ethnically homogeneous geographic areas through the deportation or forcible displacement of persons belonging to particular ethnic groups. 

Again, the math equation would be “Israeli Settlers” + Ethnic Cleansing = 0 Palestinians.

Now, is there empirical evidence to prove this hypothesis?

Per “The Guardian”, the population of Palestinians has grown to 3.7 million and the Palestinian territories have one of the fastest growing populations in the world, with numbers surging 30% in the past decade.

Per a census that was taken in 1967, the population of the West Bank has grown from 600,000 to over 3 million (West Bank) today.

If Israel was practicing Ethnic Cleansing, then we certainly are not doing a good job.

So please, do the math. Israel does NOT practice Genocide, Apartheid, Ethnic Cleansing, Poisoning of Wells, etc. etc. etc....
