The Math Isn't Mathing

The Math Isn't Mathing

The process of recruitment is quite similar to attempting to find the solution to a math problem. In order to arrive at the correct answer, you will first need to determine the appropriate formula. But what happens if the math simply doesn't add up? When the answers to the questions don't seem to add up? That is precisely what is taking place in the field of human resources recruitment.

Imagine this, a studio announces that they are hiring for a Rigging Supervisor and immediately receives a surge of portfolios and resumes. However, as the recruiters begin reading through them, they come to the conclusion that the majority of the applicants do not even come close to satisfying the requirements for the position. It is comparable to attempting to answer a calculus issue when your knowledge of basic mathematical operations is extremely limited.

It's possible that the sheer volume of resumes may be daunting, but the absence of qualified applicants will be even more aggravating. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack, only the haystack is made up of resumes and the needle is a candidate who is qualified and has the necessary experience and skills.

So, what exactly is the answer? Improving the formula is of the utmost importance. In life, like in mathematics, there are occasions when the equation needs to be rewritten in order to obtain the desired result. This requires discovering innovative strategies to attract qualified applicants and modifying the screening process in order to meet the requirements of the position.

For instance, rather than relying simply on resumes and portfolios, recruiters may use pre-employment questions in order to conduct more objective evaluations of prospects. This can be helpful in eliminating unqualified prospects at an earlier stage and directing the attention of the recruiters to the most potential candidates.

Improving the company's branding and messaging is another option. Recruiters may build value and trust with prospective candidates by sharing helpful material (such as industry trends, job search suggestions, career counseling, and interview prep) on social media platforms where their target audience spends time. Guest bloggers can help you become an employer of choice.?Recruiters are able to attract a higher quality of candidates who are more likely to be a suitable fit for the position by developing an enticing job ad, not just posting a job description, and stressing the distinctive characteristics of the studio culture and work environment. In doing so, they can increase their chances of filling the position successfully and quickly.

But even though there are several possible answers, there is no guarantee that the math will always be right. Sometimes, you have to use your creativity and think outside the box. The group could hold a fun event to recruit people, like a trivia contest, life drawing classes, writing workshops, or a game night, for example. Or, they can offer unique perks, such as flexible hours and the chance to work from home, four-day work weeks, or training on emotional intelligence to help with mental health.

Despite the fact that recruitment is not an exact mathematics, businesses can increase the likelihood of filling open positions with qualified candidates by enhancing the screening procedure. This entails responding to prospective candidates on social media when they reach out, rather than only reaching out when you have a need. This will improve your employee brand. Ultimately, success will depend on your ability to manipulate the numbers in such a way that they work in your favor.
