Math Class
My 30-year high school reunion is fast approaching. (I doubt that I'll be able to attend.) I was reflecting on this and I was struck by the thought that it has been 30 years since I've taken a math class.
I studied music in college and tested out of the math requirement. During grad school at Gonzaga, there was not a need for a math class.
So, I've decided that, as if I didn't have enough to do already, I'm going to teach myself calculus. To prepare, I've gotten an algebra textbook (with answer key) that covers algebra, trigonometry, and an introduction to statistics. (I'm reminded of my "Advanced Math" class in high school.)
I'm going to go through it a chapter at a time and do all of the exercises. (Not just the odd-numbered problems.) Then, once my review is done, I'm going to do the same thing with a calculus text.
I'm not sure if I need to do this. However, I want to. One of my favorite things in life is understanding how things work and why things happen the way they do. One of my personal goals is to do more of what makes me happy and this is one of those things.
Wish me luck!

8 年I am doing the same thing! But I am actually taking math classes at Bellevue College too. I strongly suggest Khan Academy. If it wasn't for that site, I would have passed my class last quarter I need to math to support my interest in Systems Biology. https://www.khanacademy.org/
