Everyone has two kinds of motivation in their life; we are all a mixture of both.??
??Imagine you playing the guitar because that brings you joy. That would be what's called an intrinsic reason to play the guitar; you are not doing it to get anything out of it. Everyone will have something that gives them joy as they do it.??
??Now think about if you are forced to play the guitar by your parents because it is their dream for you or just to impress people. That would be what's called an extrinsic reason to play. You are not doing it because of the joy; you are doing it because you are hoping to get something down the line.??
??The more you are driven by extrinsic values, the more your intrinsic values are starved, the more likely you are to become depressed. A perfect example of this would be when you go to a concert and start to see the audience pulling out their phones rather than being present and enjoying the music. The reason why they are doing it is that they want people to envy them.??
??From the moment we are born, we are immersed in a machine that designed to get us to neglect what is important about life.??
??It all comes down to what we value in life. Don't buy things just because you need validation from others, and you want to make people envy you. Buy things because it will bring you more value in life.??
??Start living in the moment, do meaningful things that will put you into a flow state, it can be playing sports or spending more time with the family this will lead to you having more intrinsic values which ultimately leads to a happier life.??
??The richest man in the world is not the one with the most stuff. It is the man who needs the least.
