MATCH REPORT: AtTheMatch April Business, Sport & Football Networking Event sponsored by Moving Forward Sports with Alan Devonshire

The AtTheMatch Business, Sport & Football Networking Event made a stunning return to action in 2017, with West Ham United legend and Maidenhead United manager Alan Devonshire our guest speaker for the evening.

The event was sponsored by AtTheMatch proud partners Moving Forward Sports, with founder Jamie Marler showcasing the company’s unique and excellent 2017 bespoke clothing range.

The evening’s first-half kicked off with a strong crowd of 40 individuals from a range of businesses and clubs within the industries connecting and exchanging business cards over complimentary drinks and snacks.

Individuals, organisations and businesses from within the industries on the night included Portsmouth FC, Crystal Palace Ladies FC, Dulwich Hamlet FC, sports seisure activities, hospitality & sporting events, lawyers, sports consultants, sports charities, County FAs, The BBC, Sky, car and van rental, sports massage & physiotherapy, financial advisors and printers to name a few.

Making their debut with us at The Nelson Bar in Euston were Sam Perkins and Benno Hurni-Gosman (right) from Football Bio, who like our networking events pride themselves in making connections. Flying high on the night, as always, was once again PTL Travel Director Isaac Dar’El (left)

Back for another fine performance were Mark and David North (left & centre) at United London FC, who like guest speaker Alan Devonshire are enjoying the business end of the season with their football club, ironically without the manager.

Taking note of a positive evening was author, journalist and West Ham fan Pete May join us, who has blogged on the evening: https://hammersintheheart.blogspot.co.uk/

Providing everyone with an experience to remember was Mike Mahoney (left) from FC Sport Experiences and Richard Philp from 1v1 Footballs was also on the ball with his networking ability (right).

Presence from football clubs within the professional and non-league game included Tony Brown from Portsmouth and Dulwich Hamlet chairman Liam Hickey (left).

Keeping everything in order was Vice Chair of Luton Sporting Club, Board Director at Beds FA & Chairman of Beds FA Inclusion Advisory Group Bobby Mudhar.

Jay Patel (left) from Shoosmiths LLP laying down the law of the Head of Family arm of the legal company to BBC Televsion Journalist Dominic Hurst (right).

Gemma Kearnes (left) from Thrifty Car and Van Rental had a great evening, driving forward the conversations.

Other organisations in attendance for the first-time included Gregory Ngoyi of GN Sports Massage (middle) and Corporate News Delivery Specilaist’s JYL Hand to Hand (JYL) with Kieran Chamberlain (right) joining us.

At half-time Jamie Marler of MF Sports warmed up the crowd as event sponsor explaining the partnership with AtTheMatch, the company’s progress since launching in 2012 and vision of offering clubs and organisations exciting solutions to their kit and equipment needs.

As always, AtTheMatch founder Simon Maurer conducted a Q&A with guest speaker Alan Devonshire, taking the crowd on a trip down memory lane to his humble beginnings playing for non-league side Southall FC, signing for West Ham, playing for England before fast forwarding to his current managerial position at Maidenhead United.

For several of AtTheMatch represented players in the room, Alan provided a key and timely reminder of the hard work and dedication required to not just make it as a professional footballer, but to enjoy a lasting career.

The second half of the networking continued after the Q&A to allow attendees to network further over hot food.
