1. What inspired you to pursue medicine???
Being the first-generation physician in my family, I lacked a direct role model. However, accompanying my grandparents to the family doctor's office sparked my fascination with medicine. As I progressed through medical school, the intricacies of patient care, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice deepened my interest in Internal Medicine, guiding my residency choice.
2. Reflecting on your journey, what was your first significant achievement, and how did it make you feel??
My first significant achievement was the publication of my initial research paper during medical school. It was a moment of immense pride and validation, reinforcing my dedication to evidence-based practice. Despite early challenges in balancing academics and research, this milestone bolstered my confidence and spurred further exploration in the field.
3. Can you describe a challenge or setback you faced early in your career, and how did you overcome it???
Adjusting to the rigorous demands of medical school, alongside research and exam preparation, posed a significant challenge initially. Through mentorship and a step-by-step approach, I managed to navigate this period successfully. Breaking down tasks into manageable steps helped soothe feelings of overwhelm, facilitating smoother progress through the curriculum.
4. What has been your most memorable learning experience thus far???
The USMLE journey has been profoundly impactful, marked by its challenges and growth opportunities. From exams to residency applications and interviews, each step has been a transformative experience. Personal growth, resilience, and adaptability have been key takeaways, shaping me into a more confident and prepared professional.
5. How do you balance your professional commitments and personal life in your hectic schedule???
While not always perfect, I strive to maintain a balance between professional and personal spheres. Regular breaks, prioritizing physical and mental health, and quality time with loved ones are essential components. Despite the demands of academia and career, these practices help sustain equilibrium.
6. Can you share a situation where you had to adapt to unexpected changes or challenges in your work or academic environment???
The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic during my final year of medical school brought unforeseen changes to our learning environment. Adapting to virtual education and limited interactions presented unique challenges. Leveraging technology, I organized a virtual international medical conference with peers, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange amidst uncertainty.

8. What is a habit of yours that you think has led to this achievement???
My commitment to seeing tasks through, coupled with a thirst for knowledge, has been instrumental. Nicknamed the "Getter Done Girl" by my peers, I approach challenges with determination and curiosity. This mindset has propelled me forward and contributed to my success.

Embrace your journey, seize opportunities, and collaborate with peers. For IMGs facing additional challenges, avoid comparisons and focus on self-improvement. Unmatched applicants, reset with determination and resilience, knowing success is within reach.
