  • Important Update from the Fisheries & Seafood Scheme (23/Feb/2024): The Fisheries and Seafood Scheme is now open to deliver its final year of funding, providing valuable grants to match-fund projects over the next year. Up to £6 million is available through this scheme to support projects in a variety of areas, including: Health and safety, Processing and production, Partnerships, Research, and Business diversification.   • The Marine Ecology Progress Series has presented a section containing current advances in the field of Marine Functional Connectivity (MFC) which refers to all the fluxes (of individuals, genes, and matter) resulting from the collective movements of marine organisms. Contributions to this section illustrate the range of approaches applied in contemporary MFC studies and the diversity of ecosystems and taxa studied worldwide. Find out more here.
  • The European Commission have created a one-stop-shop from stakeholders involved and interested in the Mission Ocean and Waters Implementation. The Mission Ocean and Waters service portal offers essential tools, contacts, knowledge, matchmaking, financing, and support for the successful execution of the Mission. Join the mission today.
  • Offshore Low-trophic Aquaculture in Multi-Use scenario Realisation – Funding Opportunity for UK applicants: OLAMUR is a four-year EU-funded project aiming to bring together multi-use low-trophic aquaculture (MU-LTA) related key sectors, to demonstrate sustainable commercial solutions for both the North and the Baltic Sea. UK applicants are encouraged to apply for up to 100,000 Euros. The types of activities that can receive financial support are marine spatial planning, low-trophic aquaculture in wind farms, robotics, governance, or carbon-neutral aquaculture.   • Apply to conduct late-season ship-based CASS projects aboard the RRS Sir David Attenborough: The RRS Sir David Attenborough will be undertaking two rotations between Punta Arenas in Chile and Rothera Research Station in early May and mid-June 2025. We encourage any interested parties to engage with the Antarctic Access Office as soon as possible. Applicants must complete an application form (see CASS webpage) and submit their proposal to [email protected] no later than 16:00 BST on 12th April 2024.
  • NERC's Future Marine Research Infrastructure (FMRI) program is inviting contributions to develop a robust Science Requirements Framework. This framework aims to align with key marine science challenges, such as climate impact, biodiversity protection, pollution solutions, natural hazard resilience, and sustainable blue economy. Roadshow workshops and events like the NOCA AGM and Challenger Society Conference provide opportunities to engage and shape these requirements. The FMRI Program seeks enthusiastic individuals as 'Champions' to help build this framework during workshops led by Dr. Katy Hill, the FMRI Lead Scientist.
