Jesus is confronting the religious leaders while teaching His disciples how to pray. He confronts them about giving, fasting and prayer. Then he teaches His disciples how to pray. The religious leaders had long prayers with too many repetitious idle words whose goal was to be seen by men. We should pray to God as if He was the only one listening. When we pray His ways, whether in secret or in public, He will reward us openly.
He gives us the divine pattern “In this matter, therefore, pray”.
We acknowledge His intimate Fatherhood, yet He is majestic & holy that we need to revere & honor; His kingdom will be established on earth as is in heaven by using us as a means to accomplish His purpose; needing Him as our Provider and Sustainer, our need for His forgiveness & cleansing and extend that to others along with wisdom and strength to overcome temptation & pass the test; and His triumph & exaltation.
We continue to thank God for healing us, restoring our hope & dreams to rebuild our future, to give His wisdom & unite our leaders, to bring revival & to grow His Church in the middle of this pandemic. Matthew 6:5-14. Sean
We ask God to teach us on prayer to:
- Grant us the words for the sole purpose of a conversation with Him for our needs and heart so that He will reward us openly.Vs 5-7. James 1:5.Romans 8:26-27. Ephesians 6:18.
- Acknowledge His intimate Fatherhood, yet majestic & holy spirit that we need to revere & honor. Vs 9. He is our collective Father. He is Omnipresent, Majestic and has Dominion over his creation. Power and Might belong to Him. He is Omniscient, infinite Pure and Holy yet He hears our prayer. Matthew 7:7-11
- Invite His kingdom to be established on earth as is in heaven by using us as a means to accomplish His purpose. Vs10. God has promised that the kingdom of Christ shall be exalted above all kingdoms. That it shall overcome all others, and be at last the universal empire. Connect this with the explanation given of this phrase, Matthew 3:2. for when the kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy, in the Holy Spirit, is established in the heart, there is then an ample provision made for the fulfillment of the Divine will. The will of God is infinitely good, wise, and holy. To have it fulfilled in and among men, is to have infinite goodness, wisdom, and holiness diffused throughout the universe. The earth was made the counterpart of heaven. Revelation 11:15-17.
- Depend on Him as our Provider and Sustainer for every daily need. Vs 11. Philippians 4:17-19. Acts 17:24-26.
- Depend on His forgiveness & cleansing and extend that to others as well.Vs 12, 14-15. 1 John 1:9. Mathew 18:23-28,31-35.
- Grant us His wisdom & strength to overcome temptation & passing the test for His triumph & exaltation. VS 13-14. 1 Corinthians 10:13. Matthew 4:1-11.
When you pray according Jesus teaching, then you will receive His great reward.
