Mastering the Welcome to Transform Your Team's Future

Through the implementation of our Quit Losing Talent Framework, we help organizations add millions to their bottom line by developing their leaders and fostering company cultures that WIN, KEEP, and INSPIRE employees
Imagine you join a new company. You sign that dotted line, filled with ambition and excitement for the new role that promises to be the next step in your career. And then silence. You're waiting in a vacuum of uncertainty. Does anyone even remember that you exist from the time you were accepted to the time you start? At this point, you’re probably not very excited about your new role.
Now, flip that scenario.
You're the employer.
Shouldn't your new hire feel the red carpet roll out for them?
New employees are like guests in our home; we want them to know where things are, how things work, who they need to know, and that we're so glad they're here. Mastering the 'Welcome' isn’t just good hospitality — it’s smart business.
The welcome and onboarding experience is going to vary based on the organization, or role of the leader, but certain welcome strategies will stand the test of time to keep the new hire engaged and excited about their new role. Things like:
? Sending a personalized handwritten welcome note to them after they accept the job offer
? Making follow-up phone calls to continue building the relationship
? Connecting them to HR/onboarding teams early in the process via email
? Calling them the day before their start date to confirm logistics
? Meeting them on their first day and introducing them to important people
? Taking them out to lunch in their first week to help them feel valued
Mastering the welcome isn’t an event; it's an intentional process. This isn’t just about being a nice company — it's about being a company new talent wants to stay with.
And considering the cost of turnover, that's a future you should probably be interested in.
Be intentional in your welcome, and you’re guaranteed to start seeing improved employee retention and engagement. When you can make employees feel valued from day 1, you’re making your job a lot easier down the road.
