Mastering Social Media Videos: 5 Absolutely Essential Tips

Are you struggling to create impactful social media videos that resonate with your audience?

Well, worry no more! In this newsletter, based on the five most common mistakes I've observed in health-related social media videos (but can be applied to any niche) and provide you with practical tips to overcome them. Let's dive right in!

  1. Cut Out Pauses and Fillers: Picture this—you stumble upon a video, but the speaker keeps saying "aaaaa" and "ummmm" or takes long awkward pauses.

Despite the valuable information, you're left feeling unsatisfied and unsure. I've been there too! So, instead of struggling to speak differently, here's the secret: cut those moments during editing! Even a fraction of a second can make a difference. Trust me; it will make your video look polished, confident, and 50% more impressive!

2. Keep It Short and Sweet: We're all passionate about our fields, right? But passion can sometimes lead us to share way too much information (TMI) in one go.

The problem? Your viewers lose interest within the first few seconds! To avoid that, keep your videos under 30 seconds or a maximum of one minute. Yes, I know it might seem short, but it's perfect for grabbing attention. Leave some questions unanswered to spark curiosity and encourage engagement!

3. Engage with Visuals: As professionals, we want our audience to truly grasp our message. So, why not show them what we mean? Read that question again.

For example, if you're an osteopath talking about back pain, display an image of a spine or skeleton while explaining how it happens and why.

And nutritionists, when you talk about the amazing benefits of avocados, don't just talk—show us! Cut an avocado and toss it into a delicious salad as you discuss its benefits. Visuals will keep your audience's eyes glued to the screen!

4. Embrace Team Branding: Social media is a powerful tool for promoting our businesses. But here's a branding tip that you might not have considered: involve multiple team members in your videos. Why?

Well, imagine building your brand around one individual, and they decide to leave or start their own venture. Ouch!

To avoid this, show diversity and unity by featuring various team members. It adds authenticity and protects your brand's identity, even during times of transition.

The ONLY time you can use one person to represent and promote your brand online is when that person is YOU.

5. Be Genuine and Human: Let's face it; authenticity is magnetic! People can sense whether you're genuinely there to help or just seeking views and clients. To create a strong connection with your audience, open up and share.

Talk about how you've helped someone or how your clients have impacted your life. Connect with your viewers on a personal level and embrace what I call "moral marketing." Being kind, empathetic, and authentic will attract like-minded individuals and cultivate a supportive community around your health business.

So, I armed you with these five tips, you're now equipped to create powerful social media videos that make a difference in people's lives and to make your business stand out.

Happy filming and connecting with your amazing audience!
