Mastering the Recruitment Game: A Country Coordinator's Playbook

The role of a Country Coordinator/Recruitment Advisor for international universities is indispensable. We juggle multiple responsibilities daily, benefiting both the university and prospective students. My experience at the University of Utah has been invaluable in expanding my knowledge and skills in this capacity.

In this field, there are three crucial points that I would like to emphasise for individuals considering a career as a Country Coordinator/Recruitment Advisor for international universities. These points are not only informative but also essential to excel in this role:

  1. Know your University Inside Out-?

From the history to the courses to the admission requirements, these details should be on the top of your mind. Use this formula to start your research - HIRACSA?

H - History?

I - Important Alumni?

R - Ranking?

A - Admission Requirement

C - Courses & Credits?

S - Sports

A - Affiliations

This is the most basic knowledge you can have about the university to start with your first edu fair.

  1. Network -?

Expand your network by attending events, webinars and tours. While you are traveling, always keep your business cards with you. Add people on LinkedIn edIn and be in touch with them by sharing an article or an opportunity once in a while.?

  1. Grooming and Clothing - As University Representatives, we maintain a hectic travel schedule where we are on the road for more than 10 days in a row covering multiple cities. Make sure you are dressed appropriately for the event.Example -?Cluster wardrobe for women - 2 Blazers, 4 shirts, 2 formal trousers, 2 dresses, 1 pencil skirt, 2 pairs of heels, 1 mules.Cluster Wardrobe for men - 3 pant suits , 4 shirts, 2 formal shoes, 1 formal jacket?Even when you are traveling from one city to another, wear appropriate outfits at the airport.?The aim is to look as presentable as possible.

Here are some basic tips that can help you look presentable.

This is just a snippet of my learnings! Ask me if you want to know more about any specific topic.

Keep learning, keep recruiting & keep thriving,
